“Rastafarian Lion Portrait”
Im on my second animal portait and its a set of 4 abstract resined canvas, its my first time doing close up animal portrait, but not just any ordinary portrait, its actually 3d, with 3 layers of acrylic paint and 5 layers of resin on a used canvas.
For this old canvas, i used a Pearlex powdered pigment, yellow, red, green and black and made a “Rasta themed canvas. Then once that was dry i applied another layer of a clear resin, so that when i paint my first layer of acrylic it would have a depth and shadow below.
i had extra pigments and applied it in a wood bowl container, and would paint a mini me version.
For this theme, what better choice to do as a portrait than a Rastafarian Lion. Im a big fan of BoB Marley, and his songs are old, classic but still up to date, and with his songs of love and peace and freedom ripples up to this day thru young and old generations, he is one of those artist that never grows old, his perspective with life is also way beyond his years, and i this painting is inspired by him and his music.
this is one of my mini painting experiments that i did last year for a contest, it is a 2x2 inch portrait of Bob Marley
Here is part 1 video tutorial of the Rastafarian Lion Portrait
End of Part I of III, and im still working on this painting but almost done, stay tuned for more tutorial videos tomorrow. Hope you enjoyed it as much as i enjoyed handcrafting it!!!
I love how it turned out, and i feel like i need to learn painting, i've used only something that makes fine lines and i like it and i was always frustrated when i was painting just because i wasn't in control of what is happening.(not like I am now, as you can see from my posts or avatar) But i love your painting and i'm kinda jealous about it ;)
Hi @paulokoelho, well thats the beauty of painting, you always loose control and sometimes you just have to let your creativity flow naturally, as you can see in this painting its always ugly at the beginning but because of persistence and layer after layer of paint it suddenly comes to life, and its really your perspective on how it should look like, and once satisfied and feel good about it, those same emotion shows on your every work and people will see through it as well
I like it
Thanks

Congratulation errymil! Your post has appeared on the hot page after 75min with 15 votes.
It's amazing how multiple people can look at art, and each person can have a different perspective on it.
Very true @elijah526, and I believe those who really appreciate art has the same feeling as the person who made the art. There is some type of connection in between

Eventhough i dont paint, i still think this will be useful to others. Great post, deserves the payout.
Thanks @roonyi
It is true those songs that were heard before, they had a real meaning and left you thinking many topics related to the common good, now they are only left to remember good times, I like the way you paint, and I also agree with you regarding the taste musical by Bob.
nice painting:)
