Hey everyone!
Who would've thought Black Friday would bring some great deals for crypto's as well, eh?
I know that things may look dark right now and you've probably heard it from many who keep looking at the all time highs and comparing it to the prices now. It would've been nice if Steem and many other currencies would've moved away from the Bitcoin pull at this point but I guess it's just too early for that still.
What can I say else than Bitcoin having had these swings a few times already and compared to many companies during the dot com bubble they've also seen similar movements. The good thing about that is that many actual "shit" companies/coins will not survive this period so it feels great seeing so many new projects being built on a weekly basis on Steem and people still being excited about SMT's.
Anyway, I've been lately moving around some altcoins here and there trying to grab some Steem as these prices have seem ridiculously undervalued to me but who can tell if they can drop lower, it sure would not surprise me at this point anymore. I am at least hoping that Bitcoin won't breach the $3k price, if it does than there may be something wrong that the majority are not aware of.
Anyway, as a manual curator I've mentioned before that you can be a lot more selective what kind of content or users you reward on a daily basis and I'd be lying if I told you that I've just been focusing on rewarding quality of content. Although that is not the only factor in it I believe it is important to reward the people who put a lot of effort into their daily Steem activity and have shown themselves to be long term thinkers than short term gainers. Though I understand that some may be gambling with trading for other coins and planning on buying back Steem with it later, it's not easy to read people's minds. I like to reward users who have stuck with Steem and are powering up as much as they can and buying Steem at these prices because they see the advantages of our platform and the long term vision of it.
Having said that, these dips are important for the currency. Even though you may not like that some random outsiders are able to accumulate a lot of Steem at these cheap prices, distribution of stake is important in one way or another. A lot of people earn Steem the easy way compared to currencies that require you to invest in hardware and electricity that's why I do believe that has an influence on the big swings of the price, but those same users will also sell at any price because they have not earned the coins with a lot of effort. I do believe though that many of those selling today thinking "oh well I'll just earn it back later" will find out how much harder it has become to earn Steem now than it was a two or even a year ago. Not only that but crypto swings can happen so fast and so sudden that many won't even get the chance to buy back in even if they wanted to.
Anyway, who has been making the most of these prices lately and been powering up? :)
@acidyo, I am powering up :).
I am a crypto enthusiast. I believe in the bright future of crypto in a long run. This is our gratest opportunity: to buy cheap crypto in the next months, quarters, years and pile up. So, I am every month powering up. A part of my sallary goes into Steem Power :).
One day the scalability issue of Bitcoin will be solved, and the price of Bitcoin will start rising again. And, of course, the crypto will follow the price direction of Bitcoin. I hope that STEEM will survive the downtrend. So, in additioin to bitcoin, I will continue to buy STEEM and convert into Steem Power. I've been working on the financial markets for the last 12-13 years and have seen many market crashes (of different financial assets). So, I am not scared. In my view, the best solution is to invest in crypto every month small pieces of fiat money, that you are ready to completely lose in case something goes wrong with the crypto market. So, If I do this for the next 2-3 years, I will be able to gather a lot of crypto at cheap prices. I hope that in 2-3 years the scalability issue of BTC will be solved, and the crypto will start rising again. And BTC will reach again, let's say in 5 years time, $10 000... then $20 000 ... then $50 000, then ... $100 000 and in 10 to 15 years $1 million. If STEEM survives the downtrend, then in 10-15 years time, the price may reach $50 or even $100 and more.... To be honest, the fiat money will drift away, nobody will care about the USD...So, those quotes in USD will become even obsolete and irrelevant.
So, that is my friend. No panic ;). Just keep on Steeming. If you want you can watch my videos about BTC, crypto, STEEM, etc.
I’ve been coming back in slowly the last couple of weeks. Let’s get it! 💪🏼🙌🏼💯

I don’t want to write a long comment since you will receive many comments. But I think a picture often equals 1000 words.
And the more price dives the more I will purchase.
Hey @acidyo I just recently powered up after some of my favorite influencers started going all in again on their favorite picks. Which made me do some thinking. Steem is the only platform I use and currently love. I have 4 accounts and have been on here for my first year. And loving @steemmonsters
Took a break recently, but still have not lost faith.

I bought some just two days ago. I don't want to look back in a couple years and have the regret of not buying at such a low price. As long as everyone follows the golden rule of only investing what you can afford to lose then this is a great price to get in at IMO.
There is a crypto that has broken away from the grasp of bitcoin and I write about here.
Any other ones than xrp? Not a big fan of xrp at all, I'm hoping we see some more alts on big fiat exchanges in the near future.
Yeah, allot don't like XRP as its not a traditional crypto. I like it as an investment for the very reason others don't like it at all. It was the first crypto I invested in.
I have some others but I don't think they are too promising, TRKC , BTCZ, GENE among others. One I do have a little of that I think may bounce back is AC3. Currently its about 2 cents and was normally selling around 20 - 45 cents before the giant downswing we are experiencing.
I have 1500 steem power that I have earned from the scratch without funds because I didn't have the funds to invest and so I have worked hard for it. Am not planning to sell or power down. I will stay vested in steem as long as it exists and I will keep trying to post regularly.
@yaanivapeji.
I bought some Steem already when the price was around 0,60€, but now as it's still going down I'm thinking if I should buy some.. the issue is that I don't have that much money to spare, Christmas coming and all.
However I'm sure it all would pay itself back on a long run, especially as I know I'd feel bad later if I had missed prices like this.
Also I'm assuming when the price goes up next time, everyone will be complaining "Oh I wish I had bought earlier!"
Well that's the thing.
I bet those pushing prices down know this, that's why they hope people will have to sell and won't be able to buy as much. So much psychology in these markets.
Well I'm assuming you also know the term "mätkyt", that's also a big dealbreaker in here. I can make cookies as a gift to the family, but the government doesn't accept my tax money with cookies..
I really was hoping I could buy some Steem. Now I can imagine how someone in tax office is using my €€€ to buy some Steem to his account.
I picked up a lot in the 80s, another at 59 cents, and my last at 40 cents.
There is still a bit of powder in my keg so I can buy now with more being moved over (6 day waiting period).
My next buy will be at 30 cents or 50 cents, whichever comes first.
After that, I should have two more buys in my account to add as the price increases or if it pulls back from 50 cents to lower levels.
Personally, I am hoping for 10 cents...I might make it to Orca then.
I'm hoping we don't drop under 30, would be a nice bottom compared to last one being 6c.
I have been doing the same. Flipping alt coins for bitcoin as they spasm and accumulating more bitcoin.
I have been doing the same with steem and buying at each new low but have not sold any. I have also been working hard to save money to throw on exchanges to buy more as well.
Now is the cheapest time since I have paid attention and I wish I had the cash to buy a dolphin stake and lock it in.
Posted using Partiko iOS
Wish I had more depreciating fiat to throw at these prices right now as well.
Me too.
Posted using Partiko iOS
This right here, me too.
ME !! It's a wonderful bargain to take advantage of 😎 Thanks for your post @acidyo ,and I totally agree with you about Rewarding people who see the long term value of steem and are producing Content day in and day out
I bought 70 Steem today and powered it up to get me to minnow status. Steem so far is the only crypto that I've bought during this downswing. Of course steem is cheaper than I bought it for as I write this. Can't time the market though so I don't regret my decision.
I’ve been buying here and there. I have a price in mind for loading up if I see it.
Posted using Partiko iOS
Buying, powering UP and even getting to Dolphin status thanks to these prices! Shuffling altcoins atm and some last FIAT I have is going to be on standby... for a good STEEM buy ofcourse ;-)
Posted using Partiko iOS
I bought a little. It is a great opportunity so I took the chance. It is fun to be here on steemit, hope it will last or looong times.
Posted using Partiko Android
I'm powering up as much as I can and I also bought some Steem yesterday (although I'm still waiting for the uber-slow transaction to go through. I'm very pleased with myself, to be honest - it's the first time I've invested...in anything. And I'm very excited about what's to come. Because I do believe there are a lot of good things coming for Steem :D
Anyway, I also wanted to say - since you talked about curation - thank you for the support! I really appreciate it :D
It's been a perfect time to snaffle some cheap steem. I am averaging in, just in case it keeps dropping. :0D
this is very big opportunity to buy steem at this moment. i'll try to buy some of steem. this time is very cheap now!
Yes, in a big way. It's a gamble but I'm still doing it. At 37c it seems cheap but who knows what it's going to bottom at.
more than doubled my sp at these levels! bought at 58, 48 and 38. shooting for orca hood with @stackin ! :) moving it around to some "safe accounts." then delegating back to my main rawutah account. long term thinking...and goals!
I haven't used all the fiat I allocated for STEEM yet. But once I do, I have some Tezos from the ICO that I need to do something with, hehehe
I've traded most for BTC waiting to pull the trigger on Steem, there are still some I have somewhere that aren't as easy accessible but I figure if price dumps enough it will motivate me enough to go out of my way to dump those too. :P
Me and @umulius is putting all the money we can get our hands on into steem these days. We are selling stuff we dont need, tomorrow I am listing my bicycle and some snowboarding gear for sale. If I had a house I would probably even sell that and buy steem 🙃😝✌
I powered up 160 Steem four days ago, planning on converting some fiat into Litecoin in a couple of days via Coinbase and once it shows up in my account powering up at least another 500.
Really wish I had more fiat just sitting around.😏
I am expecting BTC to fall below 3000 dollars and then I would buy some steem with my SBDs @acidyo, I am also not powering down, no history of powerdown and no plans of powering down.
I've always powered up everything not much caring about the fluctuations in price. Yes, it is much better for the mind to see a higher balance on one's wallet but the one's who weren't selling it to begin with it's not too terribly important. I've considered lately making a purchase but am torn as I've earned every steem I own, never buying. That was the way I wanted to do it in the beginning and really may just stay on this path for my own lil' experiment. As silly as it sounds while yet again prices are ridiculously low I only have time invested..................
I wish had some money sitting on the side for these low prices but unfortunately I had bought a lot when everything was high and now I can't afford to buy at such low prices.
I am Powered up to almost 100% .... keeping a little liquid (30 Steem) to buy Smoke.... if only I had a few Bitshares for fees. Could I send you 2 Steem to buy a few Bitshares ? (Offgrid-life) for Cannabit and Smokebit fees ?
Posted using Partiko iOS
I'm going the other way right now, might buy back smoke later with the profits from Steem once we see a correction upwards. If smoke has remained the same price that is~
I'M BUYING !
sell that wow gold for steem!
I will send you 2 Steem for 15 Bitshares... is that about right ?
Posted using Partiko iOS
You want smoke instead? Not a big fan of bts.
I have a whole bunch of Cannabits and Smokebits that I can’t use since I dont have any Bitshares and can’t seem to buy any on Bitshares.... I just need like 1 or 2 Bitshares to pay for Transaction fees ... complicated system over there
Posted using Partiko iOS
Yep, that's why I didn't approve of those tokens on smoke... It's best to keep things simple. I can send you the bts no need to send me any steem.
That would be very kind. BTS: Offgrid-life .... I just want to use the Smokebits and Cannabits before they disappear or get burned .... much appreciated.
Posted using Partiko iOS
lol, looks like I'm just as screwed as you right now. I always forget to leave some BTS for trading fees...
I will Upvote this post at 16 minutes.... is that a good idea ? Having to rely on Curation Rewards and Partiko points to eke our a Living these days.
Posted using Partiko iOS
I'd suggest between 13-14mins for the best curation rewards on my posts. :P
Bahhhhhh .... waited too long. Got in at 15 minutes
Posted using Partiko iOS
Yeah... I would Love to buy some Steem at these prices but I am earning way more Smoke on my posts these days.
Posted using Partiko iOS
It's crazy, I'm earning as much $ in curation reward from smoke as I am on Steem now even with the delegations. Either one is very undervalued or the other is overvalued.
Me too... I am getting over 100 Smoke a week just from Curation. They have a very good system to reward curators on Smoke. A very bright future there.
I've bought as much as I can afford right now. Actually hoping we stay here for a while so I can accumulate more fiat.
#HODL :((
Bought at 0.60$ will buy more if it reaches 0.25$
I always use litcoin to get steem. It really does suck that when bitcoin goes down so does everything else. Imo steem is the best crypto around!
I have. Or, well, I've been buying discount SBD, converting it and buying more. This way I can essentially get near the bottom whenever it comes. That's my favorite part of the conversion process: averaging.\n\n\nHoping to accumulate enough this way to be able to create accounts.\n\nAlso to support the dollar peg. \n\nMy favorite part of steem is that I would want it even if it didn't have crypto value, because the platform is something real with its own value.\nPosted using Partiko Android
I don't have any fiat to invest but I traded almost all my SBD for STEEM and powered up last Sunday, so from plankton I become a minnow :)
I’m hoping to dive in soon and pick up a few 100 steem at these prices I just want to see if this is the bottom or will we see further drops! I’ve already traded most of my SBD and got a decent amount of steem for it
Posted using Partiko iOS
I hated having to power down but I needed some funds, but thankfully I didn't need much. I powered down for two weeks to get something I needed but will be replacing that in the next could of weeks. I wish I could afford to power up now with the prices where they are at, who knows if they will be low next weekend when I can power up some but it is what it is.
Up almost 20% in Steem Power this month and posting everyday to take advantage of this. I am focused on how much Steem power I am earning not the payout amount which is why I am even setting payouts to SP 100%! Converted all my SBD to get Steem at $0.58 first and seeing the opportunity I bought SBD directly and immediately converted. That was the day the debt ratio forced the printing of SBD to stop but despite getting nervous, I calculated that I got the Steem for $0.35 based on my swap price! Finding ways to accumulate as much as possible has been fun as I have been sharing with the community through my posts as well!
I've been buying and powering up since steem was around the dollar mark. :) Really wishing that I had more funds available to buy more! It's not the most convenient time of year for investing, but I do what I can afford every fortnight.
True dat!!! I hope it remains this way for a while longer to be honest. Would love the opportunity to sell a bunch of profuctbthis holiday season, but in, and love from dolphin to orca!!!
To be honest, I'm not into trading and buying crypto, I'm here because I love this community. Prices of cryptos doesn't bother me at all, but I think that is perfect time for people to buy and make more money. :D
I’m buying every month, I don’t know how low it can get but I might be able to reach the Orca status with this crash, which is something I’ve been dreaming about and never really thought to be achievable for my account one year ago.
Unfortunately, I don't have Fiat money at all so I can't buy Steem now nor did I ever bought it for the same reasons :(
Tho', that doesn't mean I am here for short term, it just means that my current situation in RL is fucked up.
But, since I am on STEEM Blockchain, I never powered down and I never took anything from my wallet. Ok, I took around 13 Steem just to buy the game so I can stream and earn more Steem :D
I value my 1 Steem around 15$ and in my wildest dreams, I don't want to power down or anything like that.
Now that I broke my leg, I will find a job almost never and have fiat money who knows when. But, I already have a deal with my sister. When she gets her first paycheck, we're going to buy some Steem.
I'm just trying to do my best at the end of the day. Peace!
Ive been looking under couch cushions and in the car seats for nickels and dimes to.grab some more!!!!
Today is my 2nd steemiversary! Bought in the summer at 2.60
Bought again at 1.50(ish) bought again at .75. Bought again at .60...and DYING to buy some now! Lol
Have never powered down! Believe that Steem will soar! And hoping that my @spunkeemonkee project will bring LOTS of families to the platform!!!!
Go Go #spunkeemonkee !!!!!
Thanks for being a Steem cheerleader!!!!we need to stick together and encourage.each other during these times! Totally believe it's gonna get WAY better!!

I started powering up at 40 cents and I'm certain to buy more at 25 cents but I'd like to see some stability at the bottom before I spend the majority of my allotted USD .
Well @acidyo, for the time being, I am not buying anything, but I do power up everything earned as rewards, from upvotes little and large. My Steemit account is on behalf of a non-profit organization, so we depend mostly on people's upvotes to grow.
I've considered using some fiat donations to increase our Steem Power, but frankly, I think BTC is going to continue declining (due to "old" profit taking) all the way till it hits a "hard bottom" around where the slow upwards trendline it "mooned" from around May/June 2017 is reached again. So we're talking $2,000 Bitcoin, which will very likely drag every other alt coin down with it... I don't know enough about the technical impacts, but I'm not convinced even the presence of SMTs and "Hivemind" and whatever else is in the pipeline is enough to lift Steem clear of "the Bitcoin influence," except in the very short term.
Maybe that sounds pessimistic, but it strikes me that every time someone says "Bitcoin is making a bottom" it just takes another 10% dump, like it did this afternoon. So, to answer your question, I am looking for 25-cent Steem.
In spite of the gloom, Bright Blessings to you!
These price drops are arriving at a great time for me, as I've just started a new job 3 weeks ago. I'm thankful that I'll be able to buy significant amount of Steem with every paycheck! Felt like I was missing out a few months ago when I didn't have money to buy much, in hindsight that was fortunate.
I'm waiting for that 7 cents golden age to return so I can buy in like a mad man. I've faith Steem will survive, but I also have faith the bottom is wayyyy further down yet.
I don't see it.
You don't see the bottom, or my speculative direction? You know historically I'm right 100% of the time =)
