Saying please and thank you.
Children really learn best by example, so ensure that you always remember your manners yourself!
Learning by rote is the best way to teach them to say please and thank you; Even babies can learn the concept of "ta" - just make sure you always enforce it, and say thank you every time your baby passes you something .' That way , he or she should copy you as the language skills develop.
As toddlers get older and forget to say please and thank you, it can often feel like you're nagging as you constantly remind her of her manners .
WASHING HER HANDS AFTER GOING TO THE LOO.
Hand washing before eating should start from the time your baby begins to crawl and get her hands dirty.
The key, she says , is to make it enjoyable , 'Getting your hands soapy together can be fun. Turn it into a game by trying to blow bubbles with the soap film that forms between your thumb and forefinger when you make a circle . A novelty towel just for your toddler will make it even more fun.
CLEANING HER TEETH.
Brushing a toodler's teeth can be difficult, but this is one habit you cannot allow to slide. it helps her to let her try to do it herself . Most babies can hold a toothbrush by the time they're a year old, but always make sure you clean her teeth properly yourself afterwards , and oversee her brushing until she is at least seven.
Take your toddler shopping and get her to choose her own special toothbrush. Also, as she grows up , let her watch in the mirror - it may help to keep her focused.
And if she still isn't managing to pick up the habit ? Try brushing your own teeth at the same time.
