Powering the Future: Solid State Batteries

in #battery6 years ago

Ever since Sony released the first commercial Lithium Ion Battery in 1991, the technology has been great, powering our mobile computers, cordless power tools, and electric vehicles.

But we will need even better battery technology in order to power the innovations of the future!

A future filled with robots, electric VTOLs, and electric vehicles with ranges comparable to their petrol counterparts.

There are many researchers around the world developing cutting-edge battery technology, and the technology I am most excited about is Solid State Battery Technology.
Research for Solid State Battery Technology has exploded recently and there is a global race to develop and commercialize it.

But before we get into all of that, since Solid State Batteries are similar to Lithium Ion batteries, let’s quickly cover how a lithium-ion battery works.

First, solid state batteries will be safer. You see, the liquid electrolytes in lithium-ion batteries are flammable, and the batteries creates a lot of heat. On top of being safer, solid-state batteries will perform better than batteries today.

batteries is one area which really needs alot of research we need to really stop relying on ancient battery technology for future. we need bigger better capacities who are more tolerant to extreme temperatures with better life and safer for every use.

Yes, indeed when we passed from the flames to the electric illumination we did a whole different thing. The same should happen to batteries. We need a completely new battery for the cars and robots of tomorrow.
