Big Eye Beer Review

in #beer8 years ago

Ballast Point Brewing Company markets itself as ‘dedicated to the craft’. Big Eye, an Indian Pale Ale (IPA), is one of the companies many award winning beers and was awarded a Gold Medal in the Australian International Beer Awards in 2016. Packed full of flavour with a strong lingering bitter taste it has subtle fruit flavours. Big Eye has an attractive amber-golden colour with semi transparency, average carbonation and an average head when poured. The aromas are pleasant and slightly fruity. Recommended food pairings for this beer include Asian curries, cured meats and tuna.
In line with the growing trend for Craft Beers, Big Eye is now available in bottles or cans from Dan Murphy’s stores. Cans mean that Craft Beer can now be enjoyed icy cold from an Esky outdoors or indoors - whatever your adventure is.
For me, the price is a little expensive compared to other craft beers on the market. However it is superior in terms of taste, uniqueness and complexity. The alcohol content is 7% which is a tad above the industry average. The market for IPAs is expanding and Big Eye is a beer definitely worth trying. I score it 8/10. big eye.jpg
