This isnt the first case in the uk where parents rights have been denied to seek alternative treatment and care for their child. Even though alfies battle has been going on for nearly 2 years... an sadly now came to a end.. RIP ALFIE, their was another child who's parents had to endure the same legal battle with the same outcome as alfies. he was called charlie gard. Sadly charlie lost his battle after a high court ruled his life support should be pulled in 2017, 1 week before his first birthday. He was been treated at great ormand street hospital in london. If you research into the 2 cases they are too similar, the only difference is that charlies condition was diagnosed while alfies wasn't. like alfie, chrlie was granted citizenship in another country. in Charlies case it was the US not italy, A certain doctor had very good results in the treatment of the condition, even though the doctor came to uk and spoke to the doctors they still pursued the legal channel of ending charlies life. How can any court decide against the wishes of the parents. in the case of alfie, even after he was showing signs of improvement, responding and smiling to his parents the judge still found in favour of the hospital. They refused him water for six hours and stood and watched as his farther had to perform cpr after his lips turned blue. What the fuck type of system are we living in when a childs humans rights are betrayed in such a nihilistic way. The doctors stated there was no cure or no hope for alfie but yet this little angel defied all the odds and sustained life 4 3-4 days, unaided. My question to the doctors of alder hey is if he wasn't in any pain and started showing signs of improvement after the sedation had ended then what right do they have to stop his parents seeking alternate treatment. After all the court battles Alfies parents had one last appeal. It took me 15 minutes to read the appeal in it's entirety after i found it on line but the courts received this appeal a 18:48 on the 24th of april and rejected it at 18:52..... it took them 4 minutes to to read it all an make a decision. This cannot happen again, children's and parent's human rights are been ignored and it needs to stop now.
