Great article...I totally agree, so many people put unfounded trust in Bitcoin exchanges to keep their funds safe. To me this is an extraordinarily dumb thing to do; to trust your fortune to the coding skills and security of a third party over which you have no control. Additionally even a large majority of the wallet or hot wallet services are ripe for the pickings of thieves and hackers.. for me I use the KISS method.. (Keep it simple stupid) and default to good old Bitcoin Core Wallet on a laptop not connected to the network.. backed up with the paper wallet and corresponding key in a 9000 lb safe that would survive a nuke..
