Not to mach snow! Go to Russia!:-)

That's correct, @detlef-s. Russia is another Orthodox country, so I guess that Christmas would be on the same 7th of January too.

Amazing post with beautiful pictures, Merry Christmas To you and May the universe bless you in surprising and joyful ways.
Happy New Year @maryfavour

Thanks, @sameer999. Amen to your wonderful prayers. May your heart's desires be fulfilled this new year and beyond 🙏. Happy New Year!!!

I love your charming smiles sweetie. I do hope santa claus kept a special gift for me too. I'll be there in a minute to get my special pack and I'll sing for him with my golden soprano.

Thanks, my dear sister. Don't mind Santa Claus. The only 'gift' he gave was the photo shot I had with him. He'll be 'blown away' by your golden suprano.

lol, merry Christmas to you too
I have a friend in Ukraine and she said its the same way there too
enjoy the holidays

I appreciate the good wish. Ukraine is very close to Russia, @gerald.knows. The culture and religion would be similar. Thank you for telling us about Ukraine. It's really good to learn about these countries and their unique culture, tradition and religion. Cheers, dear.

@maryfavour ever heard of celebration on 7th :)

@slefesteem, now you heard 😃. Personally, I didn't hear of it until 1991 when a family friend told my uncle that he was going to celebrate Christmas on the 7th of January. It is in this country that I witnessed it first hand.

Beautiful pictures ma'am and beautiful you as well.

Thank you for the commendation, @smile-for-tee.

You're Welcome ma'am

I really like how you presented everything....I enjoyed your post.

Thanks a lot my dear friend, @ana-step! Yes, the quality of photographs captured by the Samsung S8 + is one feature I like about it.

Very Amazing post mary :)

Sweet!. I did not know this. good post

It's good to learn that you now know, @billmega.

In my home country, Nigeria, Christians celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December. For the Serbs and Orthodox Christians, however, tomorrow (7th of January, 2018) is Christmas day, because they follow the Julian calender

Actually Christmas is celebrated more than once in few parts of Nigeria. Most Especially at Ahiazu-Mbaise where I come from. There are different "Christmas days" for different clans or kins to celebrate Christmas. The celebration date of each clan is based on their "market day". Some times such "Christmas days" may extend into the new year.

As the saying goes

learning is unending

If anyone had told me that Christmas is celebrated more than a day at Mbaise or any other part of Nigeria, I wouldn't have believed it. Now I do.

There are different "Christmas days" for different clans or kins to celebrate Christmas. The celebration date of each clan is based on their "market day"

Hmm...good enlightenment. I very well understand that there are 4 market days (Nkwo, Eke, Orie & Afor). So, how come your last statement?

In Ukraine the evening of January 6 they greet, and in the morning Christmas carols! Merry Christmas!!!

Thank you, @adorably. It's interesting to learn from you how Christmas is celebrated in Ukraine. Cheers.

Wow excellent post and beautiful photography

This is interesting to read. Christmas in January? The differences in people, tradition and culture makes the world an interesting place to live in

Oh yes, @greenrun. Christmas in January.

The differences in people, tradition and culture makes the world an interesting place to live in

Very true. I completely agree. The world would have been boring if otherwise. Cheers.

I agree. I know I have lots of comments I missed replying, when I have the chance I'd go through my replies to catch up like you've done. Thanks a lot

Merry Christmas :)
Seems like you enjoyed the time :)

Thank you, @rehan12. Sure, the time was well spent and enjoyed. Keep steeming!!!

Typically we all know that over here Dec 25th is Christmas. It is really nice know that some other person's don't share share date and calender. This is indeed unique.

Double new year celebration. However, I feel it would not have the same thrill as that of 1st Jan.

This is cool ma'am.

The uniqueness, @gunneresq, is actually what made me to blog about Christmas in January.

Double new year celebration. However, I feel it would not have the same thrill as that of 1st Jan.

Today , 14th of January is Orthodox New Year. The thrill is certainly not the same as that of 1st of January. Cheers.
