The Old Dog Presents: "Reaping What You Did Not Sow" Round Five Contest!

in #contest6 years ago

Here in my neck of the woods spring has sprung and I'm loving it. Just moments ago I was blessed with the site of some really nice flowery creatures poking up through cracks and holes on my property.

I snapped some pics and got enthused about having another round of my "Reaping What You Did Not Sow" contest!

As I Expressed in The Original Contest:

The famous expression is "You will reap what you sow". In other words you suffer or benefit as a result of your own actions. For example:

  • If you study diligently you'll pass the exam and if you don't you'll fail.
  • If you obey the speed limit you won't get a ticket and if you don't you will

Sometimes though, nature takes over and the opposite happens.

Here Are The Two Examples That I Saw Today!

This little beauty was poking up through a crack in the stairs leading up to my front door!

I have been gifted with this bouquet growing in a crack on my patio! I didn't plant it but Wow Wow Wow!

Now It's Your Turn. Let's See your Examples!

Contest Rules:

  • Please show me an example of a flower growing where it was not sown.
  • Add the photo to the comment section below. Feel free to make a separate post if you like as well.
  • One entry per person
  • There will will 5 prizes of 1 Steem each for the best entries.
  • The contest closes when this post pays out.

I'm looking forward to seeing your entries!

Thanks for following me on my travels and I look forward to sharing my adventures with you.

This Contest is RedFish And Minnow Friendly!

Until next time,

@kus-knee (The Old Dog)

Let's Succeed Together!

Sort:

This beauty seeps through many of the cracks in our garden wall....never was planted or planned, but nonetheless every spring we are gifted with this purple delight!

This is a tremendous find!

Sounds like another fun one! I did a post to help promote it...

This is my entry. Thanks for taking the time to host these contests.

I love this. Thanks!

Nice! I have been missing this contest :) Here is my entry:

It is mushroom of the genus Ramaria, a group of mushrooms known as the "coral fungi". I took this close-up in a Czech forest last summer. The mushroom was growing on a dead tree.

@phortun,
I saw this at shutterstock!

Cheers~

Yes and if you take a closer look, you will find out that this photo belongs to a Shutterstock contributor named "phortun" :) It is my photo ;)

@phortun,
Sorry I didn't see that! Then that's a pretty amazing photography! A perfect one!

Cheers~

Very nice!

I just saw your Shameless Post Promotion post, and I do not know why I have not heard of this contest before. I'm so glad I saw this today.

I am a natural weight loss coach and take photos like this on purpose to motivate people.

This is one of my favorites found on a fence in a bad neighborhood in San Diego California.

Print Bloom Where you Find Yourself 2.PNG

And here it is on the poster I send when people tell me they cannot do things now, where they are, with what they have.

I have more, so I hope I will see this contest again. Since your "rules" qualify, you might want to enter it to @contestkings. You need to go to their discord and get whitelisted and then when you post your contest, add it in the room they have. Then you will be on their daily post which many people use to find contests.

They sometimes give good upvotes too, although I see you are already a star in that area :)

Thank you so much for the contest!

Great entry. I remember you as the contest Queen. Yes you had mentioned that discors channel to me before and I should head over there and check it out!

Haha! OK - I will look for you on their post now :)

I don't know if we ever planted primroses in our garden, but they spring up everywhere. I don't mind too much as they look nice. Yes, that is a coconut shell there. It appeared from nowhere a while back. Maybe it was an overladen African swallow.

Wow! I'm thrilled to have an entry from you! Well done!

I've been out working in the garden today. Lovely weather here.

It looks that way. I ran in 23 degree weather this afternoon!

Only about 6C when I ran this morning, but up to 12C now and feels warmer in the sun. Still okay for a t-shirt out there.

Lovely contest and beautiful selection of posts!
Here's a welcome but unplanned inhabitant in my garden:

and a post about them.

Nice to have it!

IMG_20190323_110631692.jpg

I saw this today and took a picture and then had to scroll back through my feed because I couldn't remember whose contest this was! I'm glad I found it.

Great entry. Thanks!

Hi @kus-knee i have created a post because i included #wednesdaywalk with your challenge i hope you don't mind here is the link. Thank you @kus-knee and have left it to you to be the judge...Cheers :)

Wednesday Walk - The Banyan Tree's Tomb Snatchers !!

This is an amazing example.

There are so many more amazing examples in this cemetery but i had to limit myself on the post i could have kept going and going...lol :)

I can imagine!

Cheers :)

For a long time I was looking for blooming Sally (Ivan tea in Ukrainian), growing in the wild, but all without success. Who would have thought that I could find it on the roof of an abandoned house right in the center of our town!

IMG_6563_.jpg

I doubt that someone put it there on purpose.

IMG_6564_.jpg

This is a great example!

Sounds so cool. Expect my entry soon :)

I only realised this contest when I saw @dswigle's and she was the one who directed me here. You guys have the most awesome flowers popping out from nowhere!

Glad you made your way over here! @joelai

!tip

Thanks for showing the way @dswigle! And thanks for the tips too!

Well you know it's always my pleasure!

Yes, now I really do!

🎁 Hi @joelai! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

Good to have you here!

Well, thank you!

Yahoooo! I found one picture for the contest 😊😊😊. This is an orchid flower that grows from the tree. The wind helped some seeds to get there and now this beauty is alive 😍.

One more photo (not for the contest, just wanted to share:)). The palm tree grows from the old coconut.

Thanks for the visit and the entry!

Has to a be a flower, eh?

Here is the weed in my yard that grows back every year. It pops up somewhere new every Spring.

When I zoom out, it's almost impossible to find, it is so small.

Very nice find. Good for you and thanks for entering!

This is my entry

You found something. Now if only it was beautiful.

Sounds like fun. We don't have any flowers up yet here in Iowa. I do know at Mom's house another Community from where I live she has a tulip that seems to grow every year by the garbage can. The don't know how it got there. Thanks for sharing @kus-knee

Who knows what might still spring up in the next 6 days?

Oh man, I was just thinking of this when I took a couple of shots on Tue but too bad mine doesn't have flowers.

You’ll see something else I’m sure!

Maybe. Just enjoy the day as much regardless.

Nice find. Thanks!

But She is all alone. 🙁

True but much admired and permanently embedded on the Steem blockchain! All in all not too bad!

Great I had a look! Don't forget to add the photo to the comments here on the post.

You got it, boss! Done.

ok sounds fun will look tomorrow

You should see what grows out of the cracks in my patio and its nothing like the beauties you have!

Hmmm if it’s true that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder then just maybe I’ll like it!

Well that is true, if you like raggedy looking grass then bingo!!

I congratulate you on the anniversary post @Kus-knee! This is a huge number of letters, words, lines, photos, thoughts, keystrokes on the keyboard, and more, all, all, all, a lot! We have something to strive for. Soon, we will celebrate your post number 40000.

My entrance, I love flowers and I love mushrooms, I do not know that I love more, but my stomach tells me that my heart is closer to mushrooms.

This is a very cool photo!

My entry for "Reaping What You Did Not Sow" contest is this amazingly Aloe Vera plant that i spotted walking along this tar up road it actually stunned me in how this plant could force itself up through this Bitumen road and be surviving and healthy looking at that. Mother nature has no limits :)))))

Thanks for the nice entry!

There is the limit sir ?? I wilk try to find tomorrow.

You have 7 days!

Oke sir, thanks :)

Thank you friend @kus-knee for a great contest! These wonderful flowers that made their way through the stones I met in my village

Very nice!

Hello sir @kus-knee
After searching 3 days, today as I promise you before and like suggestion in @paulag's post about #tenkminnows program. I found one picture today. So this is my entry.

IMG_8820.JPG

thanks for this great contest.

Nice entry. Where did you see this!

I got this photo when survey of fishing place in Pante Kuyun Village, Aceh Jaya. it seems this plant is a kind of aquatic plant or part from hyacinth, but I saw this plant able to survive also on mud soil.

Interesting!

hi @kus-knee greetings from me I think this contest is very challenging, because there are no beautiful flowers that live in hot areas
this is my entry, I hope you like it 😊

Thanks for entering!

I love this concept. I may be back - autumn here, so not much appearing right now, but with the recent rain, we are getting the odd lovely surprise.

Keep your eyes open! I’m here!

Oh, the inevitable happened! There is a fungus among us! It wouldn't have been so bad if it was growing at my neighbors, but, it had the audacity to mar my lawn.

I leave it with you. Apologies. And hopefully, a !tip will make it feel better.

Good luck to everyone!!

Very nice!

Thank you! Not very flowerish! :/

@ kus-knee Hello dear friend, this is my entry in collaboration to your invitation, the images are not very good, but they express the concept. Thank you very much for allowing us this fun
I wish you a happy start to the week

Great thanks!

I noticed this beautiful moonlight cactus flower last night, it sprung up amongst other plants along my rainforest path. So happy I caught it as it only blooms for one night.
I created a post for this contest and also for my #tenkminnows task.i am adding a couple more images here as Partiko only allows one image for the post.

I decided to go with a flower I'm sure a lot of you have growing near you right now. I'm also sure most of you did not plant it!

The dandelion!

This picture is my entry into the contest and I also wrote a post talking about dandelions to go with it: https://steemit.com/permaculture/@wildhomesteading/the-dandelion-much-hated-in-suburbia-but-useful-and-beautiful

dandelion-featured.jpg

They really are beautiful flowers and since they are one of the first flowers in late winter and one of the last in late fall I do appreciate the splash of color they bring to an otherwise dreary landscape.

Thanks for creating this contest! I have enjoyed looking at all the other entries!

Nice entry. Thanks!

Thank you! :)

No doubt about the beauty. For the contest I'm looking for things that are growing wild where they weren't planted. :)

This flower grows by itself is not planted.

I am happy if this photo can be considered in your contest..

The following is a picture of the "Meuh" flower (Acehnese language) seen from a distance ...

I just took it about 30 minutes ago by relying on a cellphone camera light, the problem is that it's in here midnight, just look at the rice leaves beside it are wet with dew (here at 00:45 a.m.)..😊😊😊😁

Thank you.

Glad that I was able to see the post in the beginning. Thank you! Now I have time to look for the right picture.
I'm sure there will be a fierce competition with remarkable shots. Good luck to everyone!

Looking forward to your entry!

Thank you!

Wow, that one's going to be a challenge!

You can do it!

I'll have to go into the deepest darkest reaches of my Lightroom to pull that one off!

Or walk outside with your smart phone while in the natural light, look for cracks and holes where beauty grows and snap a pic.

I'm in Djibouti Africa, chance of that almost nil, it's a desert :-D

Hmmm, Any signs of life at all?

Of course, but wildflowers springing from sidewalks, not so much. I will be in Oregon in a few days, plenty of that there though!
