In the four hours of electricity we had today, I managed to build a door and finish the guitar repair. I even did a short live on Instagram and sang a couple of songs for good measure.
It must seem weird, that being american citizens, my wife and I chose to be here of all places. We could, I guess, "go back", but at least at the moment we seem to be in agreement that bullshit is coming from all angles, and we best learn to roll with it regardless of where we are.
Aside from the initial shock of learning we will live like pseudo-cavemen for the near future, I think the day went pretty well. Finished the door I was working on (it's glued up and curing), and managed to finish the guitar repair which will bring a little bit of of green to our finances (something we need).
At any rate, as I say in the video. I hope that if you are facing crazy challenges in your life at this moment, you find the courage and the support around you to face them head on and not only survive them, but thrive despite of them.
The world seems crazy at the moment, and it almost doesn't matter where I look, but despite of it all, remaining calm and positive is the lion share of the game.
Cheers amigos

Where does Ecuador get its power from? It sounds like they need more solar and battery storage, but that has a cost. We take electricity for granted, but when it's not there you realise what is important. Keep food cool must be a major issue and anyone with an electric car could have issues. At least you have some solar. I guess some people will have generators, but those could get expensive to run.
We are getting into our first winter with solar and may struggle to charge the battery on some days. Our system cannot function if the mains goes out for safety reasons, but that is pretty rare.
Stay well.
Ecuador is all hydro power, but it hasn't been raining so... we are basically SOL and the government controls the whole grid, no private firm can sell to the government energy, which makes no sense to me.
Climate change is going to cause issues like this. They will have to adapt to serve the people.
it's raining in the desert, and we don't have water in the Amazon... yet we still have politicians who think we are exaggerating.
Where abouts in the world are you living now...?
living in Ecuador, in part of the coast, close to a town called Manglaralto. (lots of expats around here, funny enough)
Oh wow, I had no idea, interesting choice of country!
its a very polite way of saying WTF... LOL i love it
