Opportunity can have an interesting effect on you.
Marking which plants you planted where can be rather important. A variety of gardeners have a variety of options that they prefer on how to do this, from labels to popsicle sticks to making a map. For me, I figured that I might as well go extreme and a little overboard, but only because it made sense at the time and I had the opportunity.
I've got some new wood-burning tools, plus I've got really slow internet. Basically, while photos or videos upload, or while I wait for a page to load, I kind of need something to do so it doesn't feel like I'm wasting my time. Therefore, woodburning some custom garden signs is a good option.
THEY DO LOOK NICE, AND THEY SHOULD LAST
Basically I'm mostly looking for function here. Burned wood has a nice enough look to it already, and since it's for me, it doesn't need to be perfect. I start off by burning the plant names into large pieces of scrap wood. Then, I cut them apart.
After that I drill a couple holes and screw the board into a stick, which I then drive into the soil where the plant will be sowed. I've got an upcoming video about this, so stay tuned.
The final step is of course actually getting the correct seed or seedling planted in the proper area, which I am doing a bit of already. I'll be sharing about planting some of these Alaska Peas soon enough. Hopefully these will last for years to come, and even look better as they age, since weathered wood does look pretty cool. Anyway, I just wanted to show off a bit of this new project. I think I've got about nine made so far, so I should only have a couple hundred more to go!
Papa Pepper do you do driftwood signs? For example:
I think they are cool looking.
I could. There is driftwood down by the lake too...
I LOVE these burnt wood signs. They are beautifully organic and so very attractive. Making the extra effort to do things more creatively and more beautifully than the average plastic plant label is really enriching too. Great work PP xxx
Thank you. I can't wait to see them weathered!
Those look great! Oh, and thank you for talking about Steemit on your you tube channel. We joined and enjoy it.
I like this burning need to get into it for my new garden 💯🐒
LOL - Nice!
Just waiting to sign then I'll be hitting you up for instruction videos 💯🐒
Might be worth the time. They certainly will stand up to the weather better than popsicle sticks! I gave up on those a while ago. Glad your'e having fun!
LOL - Yeah, I hear you on popsicle sticks! Thanks!
Those look fantastic, I might have to suggest doing something similar to my handsome husband. :D Thanks for the idea. :D

Woohoo!! A+ on these guys @papa-pepper! Your signs are wonderful!! Just seeing them in this post makes my heart smile. I bet seeing them in person would bring a whole lot of joy to the Soul! With 100+ more to go you'll have quite a project to tinker away at for quite some time. It will be so worth the effort. Right on! Another great project. I hope you feel empowered by your creative accomplishment!! ❤🌞🐦
Hey man, those look fantastic! Well done, makes me rethink how I am going to label my plants!

Howdy sir papa-pepper! I like the concept. In fact it's a great idea and those should last for many years. Another innovation from papa-pepper!
