Does anyone know a way around this? I don't want to download Chrome, but I am unable to proceed. My Ether Wallet directly says "do not open this file on your computer," but when I click "download" it opens it anyway.
I have tried to double click and download, but when I do, the "I understand, continue" button will not activate.
Is there no other way but to download Google Chrome? (not a big fan of Google)
Thanks in advance.

I guess it is due to some safari options? check this https://www.lifewire.com/disable-open-safe-files-after-downloading-in-safari-446562 maybe it will help.
Thanks! I'll give this a shot.
Did that help?
Didn't work, no. :/
Hmm.. works for me on Chromium after I click on the
Download Keystore
button, and then click theI understand. Continue.
Chromium. Is that Google Chrome, or a different browser? (Sorry if this is a silly question.) Does it just download the file, or does it actually open it in a new window?
It's the open source framework, if I understand it right. I use Brave which is structured on that. Built-in ad-blocker and anti-tracking. They're deploying their own crypto later this year, too.
Anyways
MyEtherWallet for me works fine in there. Sitting on some of Brave's BAT in there right now.
First off, congratulations for resisting the siren call of Google's spyware browser. I have no idea why otherwise perfectly intelligent people are using that thing.
Anyway, try this: right-click (or click while holding down the Control key if on a one-button mouse; or tap on the trackpad with two fingers if on a laptop; or Control-tap on the trackpad) on the download link and select "Download Linked File." That will download the file into the Downloads directory in your home directory on the Mac.
(If you right-click and don't see "Download Linked File" in the menu, they are being overly-clever with JavaScript, in which case things get difficult. But try the above first.)
Thanks man. I did that, but the continue/proceed button will not activate when I download it that way, for whatever annoying reason.
maybe you should change browser for some minutes :D
That's the whole issue. I don't want to change browsers if I don't have to.
I am having the same problem on my Mac and refuse to use Chrome. The error message I get is "Unsupported URL" and the file will not download.
I have the same problem with Firefox
What can I do?
Thanks information
What information? I asked a question.
hhahahha wow man ! Upvote for me
