My old friend in Nongkhai has been very busy with his cats and kittens. Two adult cats and four naughty kittens keep him busy all day. He looks after them as if they were his children, calling himself papa! He talks to his cats in Thai and they seem to understand him very. Whenever he tells the mother cat “let’s go see the vet”. She would run to hide under his bed, in the deepest corner so he could not reach her easily. These cats are clever and have very good memory.
You could see the three months’ old kittens are getting much bigger and longer. The mother cat seems to have lost some weight. I did tell my friend to stop feeding her five times a day as she could become very unhealthy with illness later on. It has become quite difficult for me to ask for two of his kittens as I don’t want to separate such a happy family of cats.
This little kitten is one of my favourite as she reminded me of one of the cats we used to have in our family even we were kinds. We lost her a few days after we moved to a new house. I did not know that cats did not get used to a new house and that they would just go away trying to find the old house. That was a sad memory for me as that was the first time I lost my cats.
แมวของเพื่อนที่หนองคายกำลังโตวันโตคืน ลูกแมวสี่ตัวอายุเกือบสามเดือนเต็มตัวใหญ่และยาวขึ้นมาก แทบไม่น่าเขื่อว่าพวกมันจะโตเร็วขนาดนี้ เราได้บอกให้เพื่อนเลิกให้อาหารแม่แมววันละห้ามมื้อได้แล้ว เพราะทำให้แม่แมวอ้วนมากซึ่งจะทำให้มีปัญหาสุขภาพต่อไปในอนาคต แมวจะป่วยง่ายและมีอายุไม่ยืนยาวด้วย ตอนนี้แม่แมวก็ดูผอมลงไปบ้างแล้ว เพื่อนเราใช้เวลาวันละหลายชั่วโมงในการดูแลแมวทั้งหมดหกตัว เขาสนุกมากถึงกับเรียกตัวเองว่าเป็นพ่อแมว และคุยกับแมวด้วยภาษาคน แมวก็ฟังรู้เรื่องด้วย พอเพื่อนบอกแม่แมวว่า ถึงเวลาไปหาหมอเท่านั้น แม่แมวจะวิ่งไปหลบอยู่ใต้เตียงนอน ตรงส่วนที่ลึกมี่สุด ทำให้ยากมากที่จะจับตัวแมวได้ เราก็คิดหนักว่าควรจะไปขอลูกแมวมาสองตัวจะดีหรือ เราไม่อยากแยกครอบครัวแมวที่อบอุ่นและมีความสุขแบบนี้ เราเองชอบลูกแมวสามสีตัวนี้มาก เพราะทำให้เราคิดถึงแมวที่เราเคยมีตอนเด็กๆ เมื่อเราย้ายบ้านสมัยก่อนแมวที่มีอยู่นั้น พอย้ายมาอยู่บ้านใหม่ไม่นาน มันก็หายไปจากบ้าน เราไม่เคยรู้มาก่อนว่าแมวไม่คุ้นกับบ้านใหม่ และมันจะออกไปตามหาบ้านเก่าที่มันเคยอยู่มาก่อน เราก็เศร้ามากเพราะเป็นครั้งแรกที่เราสูญเสียแมวที่รักของเราไป
My friend looks after these cats with constant close suoervision and routine schedule. After breakfast, all the cats would move to play in the kitchen area near the garden. Traditional Thai kitchen is normally placed outside the main house with open space as the smell of fried garlic and chili or fish could overwhelm everyone in the house. These cats would spend day time in this open space and they would run around the garden. After dinner, all the cars would move inside the house to watch TV and prepare to go to bed. So, these kittens might not be suitable for my house with large garden and occasional raid by those neighbours’ dogs. I may have to cancel my plan of asking for my friend’s kittens.

Yes! My friend keeps on feeding his cats too often until they become too fat! Bad for their legs!
I did put my cats on a diet when they are too fat! So, they could climb trees.
Totally agree! Please reduce the number of feeding times because too much love have negative consequences too. The body of pets will grow too heavy for joints to support the weight. Then, they will scream when trying to get up from sleep due to arthritis like symptoms. My pet dog dislike going to the vet too because vets put a thermometer into the anus to measure temperature and smell of disinfectants.
Oh! Dear! Poor dog! He also doesn’t like the vet! I never like that strong smell in the vet’s clinic. They have have developed a quicker and easier way to measure temperatures by now! Where’s technological advance in this field! Poor animals!
