Wild wicker lamps

in #diy7 years ago

Now is the time to make such a quick lamp. Just go for a walk, collect the material and weave it together.

Do it now

Spring is a good time to make lamps. The weather encourages walks and wicker sticks are adequately moist, can be wrapped freely and do not crack.
There were also dry bowls and grasses left, which after the winter can also be woven into the lamp construction.
Cords and other materials can also be woven in.

From the ceiling there are hanging bulb holders into which I screwed LED bulbs, they don't get hot and there is no risk that something will burn out.( Ordinary bulbs are not suitable because there is a risk of getting lit!!
I made a hole in the balls with my fingers and put them on the bulb, the twigs are flexible enough to return to their original shape right away.
Wicker balls can be made on your own or bought cheaply in many places.
I, out of laziness, used the ready-made ones, which stayed with me in one playground each.

Materials

Wicker is easy to get, it is enough to know that these are young willow shoots, and willows grow in humid places and are easiest to find by a river.
It is possible to cut down one-year-old vesicles or to cut off shoots from trees.

Planting of wicker

The wicker is very easy to plant and grow, it is enough to cut pieces of willow sticks by 20-30 cm and drive them into damp soil. They root very easily and grow rapidly.
After two years we already have long shoots that can be cut or woven alive and create a tunnel fence or a gazebo.
Now it's still a good time and you can plant wicker just the weather is rainy and you don't need to water. It can be too dry in May and many of them may not be willing to accept it.
From the wicker you can weave a fence of a tunnel or plant a gazebo.
You can also use sticks from other trees, e.g. hazelnut or from fruit trees, the so-called wolves, which are cut in the spring and are important to keep them fresh (dry sticks break and are not so flexible).
Wicker and lamps do not need to be painted, and if something goes wrong you can add new branches.
Lamps are made very quickly, less than an hour one depends on how you are surprised and how you combine.
I made photo lamps together with Julka @julialu.handmade and they were hanging in my studio.

Wicker products

Wicker is a great and cheap material which can be used in various ways at home and in the garden.
You can braid hurdles and hurdles against too sharp a plant light. You can also make baskets or brooms.
I encourage you to play and bend the sticks

I honestly hate wicker made stuff, it’s just so unappealing to me. But I must say, seeing this project and wgatvyou have done is stirred my interests in wicker. It looks though a Star is nesting.☺️

It looks though a Star is nesting.☺️ <--- A very good association - it's a nice one.
