Always you need three basic things to purchase EDC coin from any exchange i.e some bitcoins in your wallet, account in the exchange where EDC listed and an EDC wallet to store your EDC coin after buy.

Step-1:
Open your personal Bitcoin wallet to transfer some BTC to the Exrates exchange. If you don't have a personal wallet and never ever you own BTC then I suggest you create your personal wallet on Coinbase.com and quickly complete your KYC with Coinbase to start buying BTC with the help of Creditcard and bank transfer. a mail with a registration link will arrive in your mailbox. Then follow the registration link from your mailbox and you will be redirected to the last step of registration now create a password and click on the "finish registration"
Now you are in the wallet page of Exrates exchange where you can see so many types of crypto wallets are in the list but you have to search only BTC wallet from this list by making a search query in the search box.
Now move your cursor over BTC logo then deposited button will start to show you then click on the deposit.
Now please generate your BTC deposit address by clicking on "Generate new address" 
Now copy your address and come back to Coinbase wallet and start sending BTC to your Exrates wallet and if you don't know how to send BTC from Coinbase you can take help from this video.Step-3:
When BTC get credited into your Exrates wallet then you can start buying EDC coins. Now come to the dashboard of Exrates exchange make search EDC/BTC then you can find EDC/BTC trading pair and after a click, upon it, EDC/BTC trading window is starting to show.
Now on the bottom side of the left corner put the amount of EDC you want to buy and hit the "buy" button then your order will be executed and when a price gets a matched deal will be completed.Now go to your Exrates exchange in a new tab and open your exchange wallet to copy BTC wallet address. If you don't have an account in Exrates exchange then let me give you a quick guide; First of all, go to https://exrates.me and hit the "Registration" button and put your mail address and click on "submit"

Anyway, now open your EDC wallet and copy your wallet address which is nothing but your username and go to the balance page of Exrates exchange and search for EDC wallet.
and when move cursor over EDC logo withdraw button will start to show in the right side now click on the withdraw button and you will be redirected to withdraw page. 
Now fill the amount of EDC coins you want to withdraw and in the place of address fill your EDC wallet username or EDC address (Don't forget to cross-check) now click on the "withdraw" button.
