Good day friends, i just finished lectures for today, and i think i should share what i have learnt for today with you all.
Course:-
STB 112
MORPHOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY
Morphology means the description of an organism, it tells us about the structure and look of the organism.
Morphology describes the organism. These organisms may be Vertebrates or Invertebrate.
Vertebrates- They are organisms which has back bones, an example is goat, man, sheep e.t.c
They can exist as a free living organism or as a parasite(in or on a host- another living organism)
free living means they can live/exist on their own, without joining another diffetent organism to survive.
Vertebrates can reproduce in two forms, they
can be sexually or Asexually.
Asexual reproduction=
Reproduction here is by binary fission, buddy, and multiple fission
http://qeoo.tk/multiple-fission-in-animals.html
(i) Multiple fission:- This means repeated division into so many number, and then the division keeps multiplying the parasite.
https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_fission
(ii) Binary fission:- this involves the division of a parent cell into only two sections or daughter cells, with each having its own nuclei.
(iii) Buddy:- this means when a parasite grows on its own parent.
Sexual Reproduction :-
This involves the use of parts for reproductive purpose, It also involves Conjugation and Gamete formation.
Gamete:- it means the production of egg in other to form Zygote
Invertebrates- They are organisms that has back bones. examples are the protozoans e.g Amoeba, Paramecium, jelly e.t.c
Protozoan
Characteristics of Protozoans
1 They are most Primitive
2 They are Unicellular and Microscopic
3 Some are free living, and some are parasitic.
4 Their Nuclei could be more than one cytoplasm
5 Reproduction may be sexual or asexual.
6 They are represented by 5 classes based on their reproductive organs.
Classes of protozoans
- Sarcodina (Rhizopoda)
- Mestagrophora (Flagellata)
- Ciliaphora (Cilia for movement)
- Sporozoa(produces spores e.g malaria parasite)
- Opalinata
Hmmm
Great job
