A dog protecting wild cats?

Not tame cats, as this is a Serval cat!

We were at the Cheetah sanctuary and so glad to see that they also care for other cat species.
These were all hand-reared and of course when they were no longer small and cute kittens, they were sent to the sanctuary.
Being hand-reared spoiled any chance that they may have had to survive in the wild and instead they are all employed as ambassadors of the conservation projects at the sanctuary.
Come meet the cats!

The serval even licks himself like a house cat!

And this is the young Anatolia dog on duty to guard the cats.

Here we have a full description why the cheetah is the fastest land animal

He decided to keep an eye on me.
These guys can clock 75 kms on the run.

Ah! My favorite cat, the Caracal. They are related to the Lynx!

His teeth used to be much longer, but he was showing me that he's seen a dentist recently!

Here you can see the size of the caracal!

Another look at Ntombi, the black backed jackal that I featured in a previous post!

Another look at the young Anatolia dog.

One thing that I seriously dislike is when parents buy their children a cute little rabbit, or a puppy, kitten etcetera for their birthday.
As soon as the animal starts growing it gets pushed aside and dumped.

These little creatures are vulnerable, and at the mercy of the people in whose hands they find themselves. Do they manage to have owners who truly love and care for them, or do they have masters who keep them trapped with no other place to go?

How many children, adults and elderly are trapped by other people? Do they find themselves in places where others truly love and care for them, or are they discarded? How do we know? Our charity works with many of these children and adults.

To adopt tame animals is one thing, but to take an animal out of the wild and "tame" it is cruel; as said animal receives a death-sentence when they are dumped. Simply because they cannot survive on their own in the wild.
Please think before you get an animal.

Very nice pictures and information with all of them. It is sad when folks buy the pets and discard them when it's not convenient. I see that a lot with regular dogs and cats; if it's wild.........leave it wild! Thanks for sharing.

I to really dislike people who buy pets for The theirs kid Sona whim and then ditch them when it becomes extra work for them since th ids shave now moved onto the next want

And last as much of a dislike is people who buy animals thats should be tin the wild and try to raise them as pets and then want to release them back and of course ther eis o way they would survive without sanctuaries like this

As for. Cheetah i would never wat to get to close to one at anytime LOL

I agree with you JJ.
Taking animals out of the wild is a curse.
Poaching is a curse.
Mistreating animals is a curse.
We are but phantoms in this world and whatever we gather we shall leave behind.
So many don't understand this and they continue to try and satisfy their worldly wants. to the detriment of anybody, or anything else.
Blessings!

YEs those are all curses for sure and even in my mind hunting for sport is a curse, I did hunt a couple of times back in NEw eland but with a crossbow and only to get deer that we then Skinned and ate, and I think I only ever got one.

NOw I only shoot with a camera :)

Great

Kat's r funny

Beautiful and majestic animals all of them. Caracal cats are my favourites too, the kittens look so cute and fierce at the same time:)

Aha, we share the love for the Lynx babies my friend.
This was sent to me by a friend of the "Free Me" animal sanctuary up north.
Lynx baby cats (Caracal) 2014.jpg

How cute are these little ones.
Blessings!

Ohhhhh they look so cute and beautiful:)

those are impressive cats!! I don't like it at all when people try to raise wild animals as pets. I had a friend who had some big cats - don't remember what they were - but nobody wanted to go and visit her anymore. It felt dangerous and I think it was.

Thank you and so true my friend.
My heart tears when I see a longing wild animal walking up and down next to the fence of a wired cage. So very cruel.
There are so many cases in the news about wild "pets" that attack their owners, or their friends.
So sad.
Blessings!

Really great that they roam around free. Don’t know many people who have pets here though.

Wild "pet" owners are all over the world my friend and normally they keep them to impress their friends.
Wild animals belong in the wild.
Blessings!

Lovely post- absolutely lovely pictures. And your concern for animals

Thank you Vibi.
Glad that you liked it and thank you for the kind words!

Ah yes, we have yet another rescue dog in our house waiting for adoption. This one was given as a gift to a young lady who, once he got away and was found, never went to get him. He is now a 9 month old german-shepard mix who is all puppy and has never been taught manners or that humans are not the same as dogs. He wants to get everything and play with us as he would other puppies his size. Our lab and our little dog don't know what to do with him, because his playing is too much for them. I don't believe in hell, but I surely wished it existed and the folks who gifted this dog to that young lady would end up there. Someday he will make a great companion, but for now we call him the Hell Hound!

Proud member of #powerhousecreatives

Don't keep this against me my friend, but I love your "Hell Hound"
With his German shepherd blood, he is intelligent enough to be trained.
Not like my dumb Staffie "Max" that demolished my car's rubber inserts on its bumpers, or my other fierce dog "Dingo", half Doberman and half Rottweiler that ripped my brand new sneakers apart.
Such is life I presume.
Blessings!

all of them are Beautiful animals and very fast too. Awesome photographs @papilloncharity . have a nice day..

Thank you my friend!
Blessings1

My goodness, the muscles on those cats are extraordinary @papilloncharity! Love the watch dog, my daughter has a dog which is an anatolia mix and she is wonderful, so loving but such a watchdog! Our state has become the victim of cast of animals, reptiles, snakes, fish etc which have become invasive and are depleting the native animals. Now we have to employ people to remove them before everything is gone...not a good situation. You're right, we shouldn't buy "cute little animals" which aren't meant to be pets! Great shots my friend, blessings!

Thank you my friend.
Can you believe that the Serval's can jump 10 meters high.
Many years ago on the farm, I watched a Lynx take a dove with one jump out of a high tree.
Cast off animals? You mean that these are unwanted exotic pets?
Nothing can hurt the ecological balance of nature more than introducing foreign animals, reptiles, or insects into it.
We currently have a strange worm from Asia here that are decimating the 100 year old oak trees.
I certainly feel for your problem over there.
So sad.

Extraordinary high jumping Serval, speed of the Cheetah, gorgeous green eyes of a Caracal, with intelligent breed in a dog the Anatolia looking after sheep mainly, but cats will do!

Lovely post with good reminder about wild animals, excellent photography.

Thank you Lady Joan.
As a fellow Saffer you appreciate animals like I do.
Blessings to you guys!

The most teenagers dont really have time for pets and I guess it is the wrong time for them to get a pet as a birthday gift, unless they asked for one. Animals are adorable and deserve our love :)

Thank you my friend.
The problem is that if the kids ask for one, they must be made to understand that they will have to look after it for the rest of its life.
Wild animal must be left in the wild and pets must never be dumped.
Blessings!

Thats true! Pets should be a part of our lives until the last day :)

That looks like a really fun time to spend on an afternoon. Aww what a beauty with all those spots. Strange seeing a dog watch over the cats.

I am told that the Anatolians are so intelligent and loyal that they can be trained to guard anything, even small children.
I want to see if I can find an image of an Anatolian fighting with a predator.
Glad that you liked the post.
Blessings!Thank you @enjar

Wow! So many types of 'cat'!

Thank you my friend and definitely some African cats.
Blessings!

Yes. I can relate to this. Once very long time ago, 17 years to be exact. We visited an animal sanctuary where a female Labrador was nursing the baby cheetahs. Didn't have a nice camera back then so I don't think I've got any footage but it was amazing to see. 😊

Thank you and a friend of mine owned a scrapyard business. In the yard they had a few fox terriers.
One day he called me to come and have a look at one of the female "Foxies" allowing 4 tiny cats to drink from her, as the mother cat got killed by car.
A strange and loving world that we live in.
So sad that we don't take the lessons from nature and apply it to our own lives.
Blessings!

Lovely creatures. Cheetahs are one of my favorites of the cat family. Love that they can be so fast!

Your message in the end is perfect. This is how people should think. I don't understand how some people think they can have a wild animal as a pet! It's insane!

Thank you my friend and I am in total agreement with you regarding the keeping of wild animals as pets.
Thank you also for the kind words here!
Blessings!

love the photos! i did not know about the serval cat and the caracal before this post ! Thank you :D

always love the cheetah, they are really magnificent <3

the jackal is so lovely and unique also, with its black coat, and i love the guarding anatolia doggo * ___ *

AND YES, yes! I echo your sentiment 100% !!! I dislike people who take up animals, specially wild animals and then discard them when they are no longer 'cute' .... So irresponsible > ___ < !!!!

Thankfully, there are sanctuaries like this one, but still, humans can be so selfish > ___ <

Thank you for the visit Spidey!
Glad to have shown you the other cats and I am agreed on the ugly behavior of humans when it comes to the creatures of nature.
Glad that there are angels around to look after the hurting ones.
Blessings!

What beutiful looking cats! I would love to see them in their natural state in the wild!
Good warning not to try to tame an animal from the wild for it would be a death sentence indeed.

It saddens me so to see abandoned and uncared for domestic animals but grieves my heart to know of children or elderly who are discarded and not in places where others truly love and care for them.
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you my friend.
Fortunately the government is starting to wake up about the mistreatment of the elderly in places of "safety" and court action are being taken against the culprits. We need to clean up the system to ensure quality care for the elderly.

Nowadays it's difficult to see the cats in the wild, as man's progress in developments have eradicated them and most of the cats have relocated to far off areas.
Blessings!

I would not like to get in between a cheetah and meal time haha! It's a shame that they can't look after themselves once tamed so it's good places like this exist to ensure the animal's safety.

Well if you can run faster than 75 clicks per hour, I am sure that the cheetah won't catch you Nicky hahaha. If you can't, then you just might have a slight problem, as no use to climb a tree, or to hide under a rock Lol.
As I said to many here, the people that help the injured animals are real angels.
Thank you for the visit.
Blessings!

You make it sound so simple man! I just need to run faster than 75km/hour. Time to do some squats then haha!

Howdy sir papilloncharity! wow what magnificent animals! I'd never seen two of those cats and the Cheetah of course is fantastic! Great pictures.

The caracal is a gorgeous cat but would not like to encounter it out on the wild. It looks vicious. It is sad to hear wild animals taken as pets and discarded once people get tired of them. That is unfair for the animals and is just not right.

So many things in life is unfair my friend.
Glad that you liked the cats.
Blessings!

Cats are different - but so beautiful!

Thank you and they are certainly different my friend.
Blessings!

Beautiful photos @papilloncharity, you do excellent work. 👍👍

Thank you my friend and glad that you liked the post.
Blessings to you and yours!

Great pictures and info, @papilloncharity. Agreed — not only should we think carefully when adopting animals, but people need to rethink the domestication of wild animals. They should be allowed to run wild.

Thank you my friend.
If only more people would start thinking like us, as I agree with you.
I read an article at National Geographic where dumped exotic wild pets are decimating the local insect and wildlife in the USA. Shocking stuff!
Blessings and have a great week!

They are really beautiful, and I learned a little bit of cheetahs thanks of your pictures! I find really amazing how they can act so much alike a normal kitty, they are just big cats hahaha and I'm agree with you that tame an animal and then just abandon them, it's something truly cruel, when you adopt an animal, you have to take them as one more in your family, and you can't abandon family no matter what

Posted using Partiko Android

Thanks so much.
Yes, absolutely...the little creatures are like family. Family must keep together.
They are really amazing!
Blessings...
