I thinks the chances of that are effectively zero. ETH has far superior network effects. Overcoming them requires offering something 10 times better. Being simply forks of each other, ETC can never be 10 times better than ETH. Proponents of the former hang their hat on it's supposed "immutability", but if perfect immutability even in the face of theft were all that important, the markets would have recognized that by now and adjusted accordingly. They haven't.
