Back to Music

Recently, I’ve run into an unexpected issue at the gym: I’ve run out of podcasts to listen to! Since I’ve been working out more regularly, I finally caught up on all my favorite podcasts that had built up over the months. At first, I thought it would be easy to find new ones to fill the gap, so I added a couple of fresh ones into the mix. However, I didn’t want to dive too deep into the podcast rabbit hole, as it can be easy to get overwhelmed by endless content. Even with the new additions, I’ve managed to stay up to date with all my episodes.

Now that I’ve hit this point, I’ve naturally shifted back to listening to music during some of my workouts. To my surprise, it’s been a welcome change! The tone and rhythm of certain tracks really help pump me up and push for more intensity in my workouts. It’s funny how music can transport you to a different time. While shuffling through some old playlists, I stumbled upon a set of songs I used to listen to when I was training for a 5K a few years ago. It was a bit nostalgic, but it also gave me an extra spark to keep pushing forward.

There’s something about having a balance between both podcasts and music during workouts that feels right. While I love catching up on the thoughtful discussions and think tanks that podcasts offer, music brings out that raw energy and motivation. It’s almost like each plays a different role in keeping me motivated. Podcasts are great for zoning out and absorbing information, while music fires me up to crush my fitness goals.

So for now, I’m embracing the mix of both. Whether I’m getting lost in a deep podcast episode or hitting that extra rep thanks to the beat of an old favorite song, both options are helping me stay focused on my fitness journey.

I struggle to listen to podcasts during a workout. I want to make sure my focus is on my form. My preference is upbeat EDM which powers me through any high-energy endeavor.
