I imagine that rewards dropping isn't something that you are doing wrong, but I have yet to figure out the ebb and flow of things here. I noticed early on that it didn't seem to matter the shittiness of my posts, the rewards had a mind of their own every hour of every day. I too would be pretty damn depressed if your blog were to fail, because it would probably mean that Steemit had failed-- I don't see that happening. There may be a better platform eventually, but from my own experience, this place is a life saver, both for my art and my financial status, and I already had things going well compared to much of the world before this place saved my ass. Life-changing impacts like that can, um, change lives, and such a potent force is not going to fade away easily.

Honestly, Steemit Inc needs to delegate some SP to a few worthy curating groups who look for material from all walks of life here. For instance, Curie looks out for minnows, and it's good, it works. But it builds people up to be beached dolphins flopping around in a shallow reward pool. There's nothing after that but the random votes that come and go. Those other platforms like Dtube and what not look out for it's user base. I wrote another funny but a meme with a borrowed image and two lines earned $100 more. That brings me down a bit. It's not the money, it's just knowing we work hard and can't compete with memes. I don't want to drop my talents just to chase money and make memes either. So I dunno....
That Flopping Dolphin Guild might be a good idea, I would support such a thing. I keep hearing little things about the mechanics of these proposed 'communities' here, but I'm not understanding how that works yet, or if it might serve the flopping dolphin in any way.
Give or take a couple of zeros, we old-timers are faced with the same situation that we started with, hoping to stand out in a sea of images and headlines. We don't know if we will be noticed, and sometimes posts drop like rocks, but we keep doing it anyway. I always look at it as a living portfolio, something that I can go back and pick through for gems in the future, and I might even see rewards the same week. My old art career was the same, except without the weekly rewards.
