I will never say anything negative about Starcraft because I feel as though it is one of the most perfect games ever made. There is a reason why it is still popular around the world despite the fact that it was released 20 years ago. The game is perfectly balanced (except for the High Templar's use of Psionic Storm, which only the AI can BS with) and this is the reason why the game is still relevant today. However, this "remastering" could have been so much better than it is.

The upgrade costs $10 and to be honest I was initially excited until I played the first mission only to discover that it is exactly the same as the original campaign. Literally nothing has changed about the missions at all. Sure the cut-scenes look really pretty now but for the most part I just skipped those anyway (if I wan't to watch a movie I will do so.)

Basically this is just an aesthetic overhaul and allows the game to be played in 4k, which is a bit superfluous for a 20 year old game methinks. The audio is revamped as well, which I didn't think was necessary either because there was nothing wrong with the original soundtrack.
This is a really kick-ass trailer and makes me wish they would make a Starcraft movie... be careful what you wish for I guess because we could end up with a Warcraft failure. This doesn't change the fact that I really don't feel as though the updated graphics are worth the $10 cost. I think that they really could have kept the fanbois happy if they had updated the graphics AND introduced some new campaigns as well. They could have even charged more than 10 bucks if they had done that and i would have gladly paid.
TL;DR
If you look at nearly any forum regarding this upgrade you will see a bunch of people like me complaining about how they feel duped by the remastering since it is just an overhaul of the graphics. Nothing about the gameplay was introduced and the campaign is EXACTLY the same to the point that enemy units are actually positioned in exactly the same places as before. This just seems like lazy programming to me.
My overall take on Starcraft Remastered is to spend that $10 on something else.... like beer.
Pft, jokes on you nerd. I get a turbo hard on at the thought of playing pong in 4k.
Nothing makes me more moist than spanking ass in HD pong, oh god yes.HD pong! rounded edges on the paddles on a 60 inch 4k LED? I mean, who wouldn't want that!?
Pft, look at Mr. Fancyass over here flexing his wiener all over my face with his 60" 4K TV. Some of us are still using 42"1080P TV's from several years ago. Stop trying to be the alpha chad in this friendship, it sickens my butthole.
I read somewhere that the human eye can't even see 4k, so all the Chads that go that route should have saved that money for Coachella VIP passes and new khaki shorts.
That's a really bomb-ass trailer though. All the Starcraft races invading Korea would be a nice movie. 🤙
I played a lot of the original Warcraft and Warcraft II but I never really got into Starcraft which I am actually pretty sad about. It looks like this is something they could have easily released for free as opposed to the stupid $10 cash grab. Especially for the amount of reworking that apparently went into it. At least add some content... I really wish someone would pick up the old Might and Magic games and rework those. VI, VII, and VIII were some of my favorites.
$10? Feels like well a "Thank you for playing all this while, now we need free money", I could see they walked on the graphics and my! What a trailer too, however I think the developers feel that after the best they could do is make a remodel without changes except to the graphics, it's not a bad idea but they could have done that for $2 if you ask me
I often wonder how much money Blizzard needs. They seem to be raking it in! I feel that this was a bit of a slap in the face because they never mentioned that they didn't change the campaign at all in the advertising materials, but i suppose they wouldn't do so.
They wouldn't do so lol, if not, you won't pay the $10, so basic tactical move there I suppose
I probably will skip it as well but I think for 10$ you cant do too much wrong.
It is hard to make a nearly perfect game better and if they screwed up the community would be outraged how they dare to fuck up a masterpiece so I believe blizzard cant win with this one.
Blizzard seems to be on a downtrend anyway since Activision is taking more and more influence
