Does Your Child Need Glasses?

in #glasses7 years ago

From the elderly to the very young, vision issues seem to hit us at every life stage. For the majority of population, putting on our glasses in the morning and taking out our contacts at night is second nature ad many of us built those skills early on. In kids, vision care is essential for brain development, learning skills, and long term academic success.

Forty states require vision screening for school aged children, and fifteen states demand it even of preschoolers. These screenings identify vision issues, the risk of eye diseases in children, and proved general eye health information for doctors and researchers. These exams vary in length and intensity to accommodate the comfort levels (and attention spans) of young children and students. Optotype screening is one that most of us are familiar with and is suggested to children over three years of age, evaluating visual acuity at certain distances to determine the extent of vision impairment. However for children who have begun to show signs of vision issues early on, developmental milestones assessment test is administered to observe visual-motor milestones in children for signs of poor vision that may be hindering development.

Keeping up with vision health is often a no brainer to the 60% of people on earth who require creative lenses. That’s why it’s up to us to help teach our children good habits for vision care and to keep our own eyes peeled for the signs of deteriorating eye health. Take a look at this infographic from Frames Direct for more on vision care and how it affects childhood development, school performance, and overall health.
