#Bavaria, officially the Free State of Bavaria (German: Freistaat Bayern), is a landlocked federal state of Germany, occupying its southeastern corner, worldwide known for its "Oktoberfest" at Munich.

#Elections
As you probably know last weekend was the state election in Bavaria. As expected the traditional mainstream party, the CSU, got a disastrous election result compared to previous elections in the Freistaat. There are several reasons which led to this swift in voting decisions. Especially one party scored high: the greens/Grüne. They took serious advantage of the fact that the CSU was unable to get through to the voters and was therefore able to convince (with intelligend green arguments) former CSU-voters to vote for them. They are somehow the breakers of the chains of fear, which the CSU together with the AFD (populist right wing party) created in the last years, as they continued to talk about an immigration crisis which in that critical form as they presented it, never happened. Especially in that part of Germany, one of the richest corners of Germany, the immigration crisis is since some time not really visible anymore (as the crisis happened in 2015) and therefore nobody was ever in serious danger about losing their home or culture because of some new immigrants. The greens talked openly about the pros and cons of immigration and support the idea of a multicultural, coulourful, peaceful together.

Obviously the greens are since ever also supporters of renewable, clean energy and support the idea of a more conscious living between humans and nature and a responsible use of limited resources as water. As we all know about the threat of climate change and the catastrophic effects of it, their core arguments and values are and will be for a long time relevant as it will influence all of us and our habits of living. Also this may have influenced many people to focus on what really matters and what will have a huge impact in our life.

Last but not least, we should mention the two leaders of the greens-party #Schulze and #Hartmann , two highly intelligent and motivated, #YOUNG candidates which did not hasitate to talk and convince step by step, one person after another and went out in the streets of Bavaria to convince indecisive voters for their cause.

Now, with nearly 20% of the votes, the greens got in Bavaria a historically high election result and have now the delicate but crucial and highly important homework to bring their green, sustainable ideas into the bavarian state and take decisions for the advantage of the many, not the few.
