As usual, I’ll give you a quick insight into each case as it occurs during the day. 9.30am start and 10pm finish, so one of my long-uns. We have 4 initial enquiries, 2 new full-appointments (90 minutes each), 4 follow up appointments (60 minutes each), and two 15-minute updates. So...let’s do this thing!
Case 1: New enquiry. No-show. Frustrating, but gave me the opportunity for a quick walk around the lake in the morning sunshine.
Case 2: Follow-up. Female. 3 years old. Russia. Diagnosed with ‘autism’, but I don’t accept that. She has extreme sensitivity to her environment from birth. Hates anyone touching her, seems to be in a permanent state of heightened awareness and fear. Has also had swollen lymph glands on her neck since birth and is extremely restless. Stools ‘like porridge’, never formed. LOVES music. No history of vaccination. Speech, language, development all normal.
1st Prescription: Tarentula Hispanica 200c This remedy matched her symptoms unbelievably well.
Result: Her mum made my job extremely difficult. After my prescription I got a stream of emails concerned with bacteria, candida, supplements. She then declared the remedy had ‘no effect’ and had been researching homeopathic remedies and wanted to try Lachesis because of a long list of traits indicating this. I asked her to continue my prescription. At the end she tells me she was giving anti-fungal treatment (Diflucan) during the 4 weeks, then switched a few supplements around. Then after a few doses of the Tarentula remedy her daughter’s symptoms all resolved, so she stopped it and put her on a course of antibiotics ! (I was pulling my hair out by this stage). Then her symptoms returned and mother re-started my prescription. Mother now suspects emotional traumas as a possible cause for symptoms (it’s possible) and has given me a whole lot of new symptoms she’d like me to treat.
So, I told the mother off for changing so many variables during the 4 weeks (making it impossible for me to see what effect the Tarantula would have) and asked her to give 2 more doses of the remedy then stop everything for two weeks, before reporting back to me.
She reports back to me after the two weeks: Calm and well, painted for the first time in her life! After 1 week she ‘finished an antiviral and antifungal treatments’ (So she was STILL giving other medicines, despite me asking her to stop everything so we could see what the Tarantula was doing). She then starts ANOTHER new protocol with supplements to help with viral load.
Analysis: What can I do with this case? I’m tempted to just tell the mother that I can’t treat with all the other protocols she’s using at the same time. This ‘biomedical’ approach where people target viruses, then fungus (like candida), then parasites, then bacteria, then back to viruses is not a solution. I observe that people just become stuck in a loop. It’s my belief that USUALLY these pathogens are just a secondary effect… that there’s some other underlying cause. A common example of this is heavy metal toxicity. As long as someone has this toxicity, they will almost always have candida overgrowth. I believe the body USES the candida to quarantine the metals, to keep them out of the bloodstream, away from areas where they could cause harm.
Prescription: In the end I decided to gently (!) tell her off again and get her to repeat the Tarantula, this time in LM potency, along with one of my favourites for a very inflamed/unbalanced tummy, Okoubaka.
Case 3: First appointment. Referral. Male, 7 years. Texas, USA. PANDAS/PANS, fatigue, muscle weakness, wetting the bed, ADD. High Strep. , high viral load, high metals. Mold exposure. No vaccines. Poor immunity. Chronic swollen glands. There were no clear causes for his symptoms. I decide to prescribe based on his symptoms.
Prescription: Carcinosin 30c + Mercurius 200c.
Case 4: First Appointment. Female, 5 years, Cali, USA. Severe Autism. Comprehension of two year old. Can speak single words, sensitive to loud noises. Gastro issues with chronic constipation and bloating. Echolalia. She was developing normally, but began regressing between 1 and 2 years old. No obvious cause of her gradual decline, though she did have a double dose of her 12-month vaccination. Big girl, loves carbs, sweats around head in bed. Never had breast milk.
Analysis: There’s no clear ‘smoking gun’ here, but my experiences points me to the childhood vaccines. Calc Carb looks like her constitutional remedy.
Prescription: 8-week Vaccine Detox + Calc Carb 200c
Case 5: Follow-up. Male. 7 years. ASD + Hyperactivity. USA. Last time he got Rhus Tox 200c for hyperactivity and Tuberculinum Koch 1m for ongoing development.
Result: Absolutely no reaction to the Rhus T, but the Tub-K has ‘been a miracle’. He’s making great academic progress - He is able to add numbers together (3 months ago he didn’t know numbers or colours), retaining words, speaks single words in context, but no sentences yet, now watches cartoons (previously he didn’t understand them and so ignored them). Mum very happy with progress, his understanding has increased dramatically over the past 3 months. but still no improvement of the hyperactivity.
Analysis: Tub-K is such a great remedy for him! Let’s keep going! (interestingly his great-grandmother suffered from Tuberculosis, this may be why this remedy is so great for him). But I want to fix this hyperactivity. What’s causing it, maybe gut dysbiosis? He also has signs of candida overgrowth including incredible sugar cravings.
Prescription: Tuberculinum-Koch 10m + Poly Bowel Plus 30c for 4 weeks.
Case 6: First chat with me. Male. 10 years. Autism and PANDAS. Texas, USA. Referred by another patient. Delayed development in many areas and clear signs of gut dysbiosis. Went to a gluten free/cassein free diet & started talking that same week (at 5 years old) - clear sign of gut inflammation affecting the brain. No vaccines, but had a father in the military. Interesting case.
Case 7: Existing patient, update. Male, 7 years, Autism, Cali USA. I have been giving various remedies to this patients for the past 6 months without getting any reaction from him. However after giving him Thuja 200c last prescription he finally reacted! He’s currently on Hyoscyamus 200c for his impulsivity, threats like, ‘I’ll kill myself with a knife’ (!), cursing, fumbling with his genitals frequently.
Result: A no-show in the end.
Case 8: New enquiry. Female, 15 years, Aspergers and PANS symptoms began after Lyme illness. Texas USA (LOTS of Americans today). ANOTHER no-show.
Case 8: Existing patient. Follow-up. Male, 6 years, Autism, Nigeria. Regressed at 2 years old after a measles vaccine.
Prescription: measles detox protocol + Carcinosin 200c
Result: Clear reaction to the measles detox and some improvement in symptoms. Good, he has had steroids in the past and I was concerned he wouldn't have coped with a vaccine detox.
Prescription: Poly Vaccine detox + Tuberculinum-Koch 200 (lot's of key note symptoms pointing to this remedy).
Case 9: Existing patient. Male, 7 years. Autism. UK. He’s done really well on previous remedies. There's not a lot left to fix really, he just got some catching up to do with his peers. Has previously had IVF, Vacc and metal detoxes (all followed by clear improvements). Has reacted beautifully to Sulphur.
Prescription: Sulphur 10m + Bartya-Carb 200c + Sleep Mix (Passiflora, Valerian, Avena Sativa) 30c for mother.
Case 10:New Enquiry. 3.5 years, male, Autism, UK but African origin. Clear regression after MMR vaccine (which was dismissed by doctors….again). Lost speech, started hand flapping. Has been with another homeopath for 8 months but she hadn’t addressed the vaccine damage and patient left in frustration. Homeopaths can sometimes be reluctant to confront the elephant in the room. Added to my waiting list.
Case 11: Update for existing patient. Male, 8 years, PANDAS, Wisconsin USA. Previously he was symptom free after several remedies. After a recent illness his PANDAS symptoms have started returning .
Prescription: Symptoms indicate that he needs Mercurius 200c.
Consummatum est
i loved this post. really, i love PROCESS. i love to hear that thought process and battle you went through, back and forth, determination to use facts and skill and the battle that we have with INFORMATION and PEOPLE. thanks for sharing ;) this is like remote therapy for me that it's ok for me to have form and process so very much part of my day to day.
Thanks man. I used to be an engineer, so I tend to have that approach.
@alanfreestone, I feel exhausted just reading this. Helping parents come to understand the subtlelty and strength of homeopathy is a big job when they are desperate for quick fixes and multidisciplinary approaches and want to mix and match. Fascinated by your use of Tub-K: - it has inspired me to go away and look at it again. thank you
Lots of really nice prescriptions in here 😄
That tare case ... maddening. Ask to treat the Mum first!
Too many no shows. So frustrating!
Some lovely cases. Testimonials coming soon I reckon!
Fascinating reading.
Something in the air. 2 x 15 min no shows today too.
