Yarrow tea is a good decongestant, sinus headaches, migraine headaches, chronic nose bleeds, pain behind the eyes, and eyes the tear constantly. Along with many others I will share from a book in my stash.
So let’s begin
You’ve probably walked pass this herb a hundred times if you enjoy hiking through the countryside in summer. Yarrow grows almost anywhere in the world were a direct sunbeam can find it from most of the day. It is used for Burlington beer curing depression bringing on menstruation and stopping two things – among other things
This tall herb carries finely-toothed leaves which appear almost feathery. It flowers from May through September in most climates, and the flower heads resemble tiny daisies in the white, pale pink or faint lavender shades. Yarrow transplants well and can be grown from seed in almost any soil.
The best time to gather yarrow is at mid day in July or August, when the mature plant is heated by the sun. Snip the entire herb, stems, leaves and flowers to plant is best used fresh, but it may be dried for winter use by binding together several stands and hanging upside down and in airy spot.
There is no better herb for abdominal complaints then yarrow. It brings on suppressed menstruation, even in the case of a 19-year-old woman who never started her menses. Yarrow tea is a standby treatment for normalizing periods and easing women through menopause. (Note: however, that yarrow should not be taken by pregnant women.)
The book goes on to say that it is also good for men. A 28 yr old for a lump in his belly, it was malignant. The man started chemo. He drank yarrow tea daily, as much as he could hold down. The book goes onto say the man started to regain weight and was improving as of the writing of the book.
Then the book continues with other great uses.
Yarrow tea is also a valuable decongestant, and is an effective cure for sinus headaches. Migraine headaches have been known to yield to ongoing courses of yarrow tea, as have chronic nosebleeds, pain behind the eyes and eyes that tear constantly.

Yarrow sitz baths are helpful in treating nightly bedwetting of children or the aged. They also work to treat fibroids and neuritis. And for painful, itching hemorrhoids, nothing relieves quite like a touch of yarrow flower ointment.
When cutting the flowers we made sure to leave some to go to seed, that way we will have some next year.
We started cutting the flowers in the house, but realized there was a crap ton of spiders hiding on the flowers and in the basket.
I suggest you do all the processing outside.
We cut the blossoms off as close as we could to save space in the jar.
Like I said, this is an outdoor thing, so we moved our set up.
Close up on some of the yarrow in our area.
It took us three hours to trim the flowers, and took two large bottles of vodka.
We made seven quarts for my winter supply.
I bet some of you are wondering why I need this much and what I plan on using it for.
I need if for suppressed menstruation caused by my PCOS. I have no idea how much I will need, so I need to stock up.
I hope you found this wild flower info helpful.

Yes these are all my photos.
The information came from the book called “Herbs that heal through nature’s pharmacy; a gift from nature for your better health” by William L. Fischer
An awesome book!
My daughter says yarrow tea tastes like turkey stuffing, lol. It smells a bit like poultry seasoning to me.
It may help your hubby with the diverticulitis too, because of it’s ability to tone and heal the mucus membranes of the digestive tract.
Oh!!! I will have to talk to him about that! But he hates tea...hmmm🤔
I missed the part about what the 2 large bottles of vodka do. Although I think that's what it would take me getting over the fistfuls of spiders in my salad.
Hahaha, yeah I forgot to add that. It was very late at night when I wrote.
You put the blossoms in a jar and pour vodka over them and let them sit.
I have two other new bottles too 😊
I'm glad you took the picture of the plant, the drawings in the books don't always help me enough with identifying the plant. I'm pretty sure there's a bunch of this growing just down the street.
I can take more pictures if you need them. 😊
