Unfortunately I have those fillings. Since I was a small child. :(
I asked about having them taken out but one, I can't afford the cost for treatment. Two the dentist said maybe I shouldn't consider it unless the filling becomes unstable as the actual process of changing them is quite full on. I have quite a few.
mmm... yes, it requires a dentist trained in the procedure - it's not super-complicated, but need to isolate each tooth to avoid swallowing the amalgam! Feels like having a condom stretched over one's mouth!
But, it seems to have stopped my arthritic pains, so was worth the cost. Depends which country you're in, regarding costs.
