Helloooo Steemians, Thank God It's Friday!!
This is the maiden edition of a series of honey facts and recipes. i will be doing this every Friday. The motive behind this is to throw more light on the importance, health benefits and rare uses of honey. Honey has numerous health benefits; so we'll be here every Friday to show you how you can incorporate honey into your meals and beauty regimen to improve your overall health. We've been in the honey business for quite sometime now and we feel we have to educate people on the various uses of honey apart from it being a sweetener.
So without wasting words lets dive into today's facts, shall we?
DID YOU KNOW??
HONEY CAN BE USED TO PRESERVE FRUITS AND NUTS
Honey has been around for a long time. in fact it is said to date back to 5500 B.C.E. It is also said to be the most reliable sweetener known to early man. Earlier civilisations used honey for various things and one of such was preservation. Honey was and is a great preservative because of its high concentration of sugar (fructose and glucose). This characteristic of honey enables it to kill any yeast and bacteria cell that may cause contamination by sucking or forcing water out of them.
I really don't know how early man was able to discover this powerful form of preservation using honey; maybe they had their own Google lolx... Okay so lets look at how to preserve your nuts and fruits with honey.
PRESERVATION PROCEDURE
This procedure does not require any special skill. It is as easy as getting fat lolx ...
Things you need:
- A jar or a container to hold the mixture (the container must have a lid)
- Raw Honey
- Your preferred nuts and fruits(dried fruits and nuts are the best)
METHOD
- Sterilise your jar or container by giving it a hot water bath
- Pour an amount of honey into the jar first, add your nuts and fruits and top it up with honey
- Make sure the nuts and fruits are covered in honey
- close the jar tightly and place it at a cool and dry place
Now you can eat your healthy jar of fruits, nuts and honey at will
HEALTH BENEFITS

I didn't know you could use it as a preservative, Awesome!
We love honey. It's the only sweetener we use. We use local honey for allergies and even give some to our dogs every day for theirs as well. Now that allergy season is over they won't let us stop.
I look forward to your Friday posts on this subject.
