RE: Dear Diary: Gabapentin Helps With My Gut-Churning Spasm Problem

in #health7 years ago

Hello Mr. @cryptopie
I readed your post, indeed RLS is a condition that medical community needs to unveil a lot more in order to know the physiopathology of it. Coincidentally, GABAPENTIN is a drug that we still need to know a lot. The way that gabapentin works has not being described in medical literature, there are some speculation with its structural relation with the natural neurotransmitter GABA (gamma-amino butyric acid) ----(thats where gabapentin name is derived) but, a similar action in the cell receptors has not been proved. Nonetheless Gabapentin has an unclear action in calcium receptors. Calcium receptors in neuronal membranes are partially responsable on regulating the speed and intensity of a nerve-signal (action potential). Maybe, RLS physiopathology is related to a disregulation or an over functioning of nerve signaling --- therefore gabapentin is useful to your problem.
