These are amazing photographs. I know how hard it is to take photographs of them, so you spending hours waiting for them makes sense, even though you say that they are easy to photograph because they stand still. The ones at our beach is so shy, I can never get close enough for quality photographs. Thanks for sharing, and keep well! *Edit: I see you are using a 600mm lens, this makes sense! I need to get myself one, as I am only using a 300mm.

Yes with 600mm it is a lot easier, "easy" is probably the wrong thing to say it, maybe I should have said easier compared to some other birds. But you need to be patient and wait for a long time lying on the ground and not move too much.
For sure, when I spent some time on the beach, even with only the 300mm zoom lens, I caught some nice photographs. You begin to see their pattern, and as you say, they are "easier" because (in my case) they returned to the same spot, and stay in that spot, for quite a while.
