The road in front of Seoul Station looks so chaotic. For a city that was flattened 70 years ago, it's interesting they built it back up in such a spiderweb fashion. I get the whole mountain thing, but surely these harsh angles weren't well thought of in front of a major hub.
I also feel they could do a better job with the roads which is why everyone moves out to the new towns at the edge of the city. That's not even close to the worst area.
Could you imagine a tourist driving past that intersection? Okay, let me just cross 7 lanes to try and find parking.
Yeah usually rent car places for tourists are in smaller towns or near the highway. You do not want to drive in Seoul as a tourist.
Wow! I never knew that Korea was so developed my friend.
They did a great job with that overpass and you certainly got great shots of the places.
Lovely and well detailed!
Blessings!

Interesting! I like when they make concrete areas into parks and green land - like in rooftop gardens!
Thanks so much for sharing sights of Seoul! I have never been to a big city like that before. Loved the old train station and I especially like the night scenes! I hope you had a nice supper with your family! Happy Belated Valentines Day to you too!
Thank you kindly.
It is a very large city. I am glad that they are keeping the old architecture, although they do have a habit to tear those buildings down (or build something larger beside it) because they were built during the period of Japanese colonialization.
I did have a great supper of beef. Happy Belated Valentine's Day to you, too.
Wow! I don’t think I would be driving there- would have to take the pathway. 😂
Great shots that give me an idea of how big the city is.
This looks too intense for me. I'm glad I don't live in a super-mega city.
Oh, but Toronto and Montreal are also fairly big. The thing about large cities, it's hard to notice them all at once. So I just imagine it is a few smaller large cities.

Thanks!
Beautiful shots you got there of Seoul and I especially love the station. I wish I could see more of it. City looks very busy.
I took a few more pictures not too far from there and I plan on going back. Actually, maybe if the weather is nice, I'll go this weekend (there are fewer tourists due to Covid-19 so it is nice).
LOVE taking the train into the city.. Your right it feels good. I learned quite a bit about the transit system of Seoul and you managed to get some awesome shots of the city. Didn't realize it was so cold there. I see people wearing heavy coats! Brrrr...
Seoul is a very large city. The transit system is quite complicated, but phone apps make it easy to figure out.
It gets to around -10C in winter, but usually closer to around 0 during the day.
An amazing area, and I'm glad they kept the original train station too. It's a beautiful building. 310 Km/h = 192.6251 Mph - that is really fast to be moving on wheels!
Awesome photos!
I really like the neoclassical architecture. There isn't that much in Seoul, but what they have left is well maintained. They famously tore down one building, but it really annoied them.
They are currently working on a 450km/h max train, it will probably cruise around 420km/h. A few of the rails are straigh enough to support it and all concrete ties, too. Any faster than that and it will have to be maglev.
Oddly, when riding it, it doesn't feel that fast because the windows don't open and it's so smooth.
I really like the pictures of the station at night! Shiny lights.
Thanks. I've been struggling to get pictures of lights that I like. It is so much more difficult than day light photos.
Wow, and I thought Chicago had a lot of traffic, lol. What a great idea to turn that overpass into a pedestrian park!
I do like the sky park idea. There os also a brdige acorss the river with several trees, but it isn't as nice. Although, I think they are planning more.
I think Chicago is one of the biggest cities in America, but the lake at least limits the direction of expansion. Seoul encircles everything and keeps growing, lol.
These are all great photos and a lot of great info, most of which I was totally unaware.
Thanks @abitcoinskeptic
I'm glad you are now more familar with this interesting place. I hope you have a happy day.
Impressive!
Your pictures are fantastic. They allow us to appreciate the magnitude of this facilities.
It is gratifying to see that in some parts of the world people think big and create magnificent structures to accommodate the growing urban demands. We lost that over here some thirty years ago. Far from advancing we have gone back in time and have the transportation infrastructure of colonial times.
Haha, I think you will live Seoul city hall. It is a nice colonial building built by the Japanese 100 uears ago. But now a giant modern building which is the expanded coty hall, shaped like a glass wave, towers over it.
Hopefully your country finds its way eventually. Development after colonial times took Korea awhile amd it wasn't easy.
Very interesting sir abitcoinskeptic, I love all the views and scenes from the 7017m that is one busy city!
Yeah, that part of the city is quite intense. Tourists love it when they come and visit Seoul. Most of the time I avoid that area...
I would avoid that area like the plague myself but it would be interesting to visit as a tourist.
Haha, funny you mentioned avoid it like the plague. Coronavirus is currently surging across Korea and everyone seems to be avoiding busy areas like the plague except those protesting the government or celebrating the coming rapture.
The Rapture! So they see this as an End Times event. I think it's a little too early to proclaim it as that and I hope it won't wipe out millions of people. And I hope it doesn't shut your country down.
Or ours, I know they're expecting it to hit in various areas here too. I know people were wondering if it would prevent the Olympics in Japan after they've spent tens of billions in new buildings and such.
What an amazing place, @abitcoinskeptic. Great pictures. I love all the big spaces, giant thoroughfares and tall ceilings!
Yeah, I've seen some pretty neat urban photography here. It's a shame I didn't have an interest in it until I moved to the outskirts of the city. Although I do plan to go on a few trips sooner or later when the weather is nice. It's still a little chilly and the dust is really bad, but the crowds are thinner because of the virus outbreak.
It’s funny how interests in certain things grow. In recent years I’ve discovered I’m in love with history — a topic I hated in school!
That's quite interesting how you like history now. I always liked it, but I find learning it on my own terms is much better. The government version of history annoys me, they overemphasize the importance of you guessed it...the government.
Beautiful. Looks like a busy, industrial city with lots going on. The nightline is fabulous. Reminds me of cities in the U.S. with the tall buildings and lit. Makes for a beautiful skyline.
Thanks.
There are only a couple US cities that are as big as Seoul. That is just one part of the city center.
