My helper arrived at 8AM and set about doing the last of the weeding and making sure everything was properly mulched. I was already on the mower and cleaned up the area where the dumpster had been. My helper friend had taken the fence around that area down on Friday.
I was glad I had a decent night's sleep, only waking coughing once. As I had not done the push mower for trim last week, I had to do it this week. I got that done first then started the rider mowing. Because I'd started so early, the grass was wet, so I had to keep unplugging the bagger.
The Small garden before
I got the yard finished by 10AM and she was just finishing the Big garden when I finished the mowing at the barn at 11AM. That also had not been done last week. I got her started in the Small garden and went to get a shower. I'd asked her to take me shopping.
The iris were loaded with weeds but she managed to get them done by the time I was ready to go shopping. The daylilies still need done, especially at the far end.
We got finished the shopping mid afternoon and I got the stuff put away and sat down to watch a video.
The coughing wasn't bad during the day. I increased the antacid a good amount and it has affected the coughing. I think most of the problem is the hiatal hernia.
When I mowed the east side of the Big garden, I found this. I'll bet it's the groundhog. I plan to put the gone bad cat food down the hole. I bet it comes out in the middle of the comfrey, just like last year.
I'd also noticed the hay in the middle pasture is over 5' high. It's higher than the 5' fence posts.
In the East Shed garden the 7 Sisters rose has its first bloom.
The Big rose is covered with blooms with a light scent.
In the Old North garden: L - R, Sweet William, feverfew in back, and marshmallow are all doing well.
On Monday my window lady is coming and we will finish the last 11 windows. I have a lot of prepping to do for that. I hope I get some sleep Sunday night. It will be good to check that job off the list.
You've got your place looking really sweet. That is some really tall grass and it looks great. Do you cut it and bail it or does someone else possible do that for you.
I was wondering what is planted under the hay in your gardens. You sure to lay that stuff on thick.
The rose bushes are beautiful. so many buds.
All sorts of things in the Big garden: tomatoes, peppers, artichokes, beans, carrots, parsnips, broccoli, kale, beets, garlic, celery, and flowers.
I had hoped to have the guy who did it last year bale it, but he wanted to chop it and it didn't get done. I'm trying to find someone to bale it.
All sorts of things for sure.
Good luck finding someone to bale the hay. If you did find someone would you get the hay. I would imagine that it may cost a few bucks, but that's where you do some horse trading I would guess.
Yeah, the horse trading thing, I would hope. Sometimes they take it just for doing it. But first I must find someone...
That doesn't sound fair, hopefully you can find someone and you get a share of the bales.
That's the hope...
Wow, I love the mulch, it is neatly done. Good evening!
