Mr Big Stack - Recreating The Legendary McDonalds Big Mac

Hi Foodies

Today I was messing around in the kitchen and thought it would be fun to try and make my own version of the McDonalds Big Mac.

Every time I make burgers I make my own buns using the Hokkaido style Japanese milk roll recipe.

If your interested to know how to make this kind of bun I made a full post about it here.

One of the things that really gives a Big Mac its flavour is the signature sauce.

This can be recreated at home by combining mayonnaise ,ketchup ,mustard , onion powder ,garlic granules , diced pickles ,a little pickle juice from the jar and diced onion.

This sauce is VERY tasty and really adds that signature Big Mac flavour to any burger.

For our burgers we are using dry aged Aberdeen angus beef.

I cooked these "smash burger" style ,basically we smash our meat down with a spatula to create the patties.

When the meat is cooked we throw on the cheese and let it melt.

I made these buns big enough to cut into 3 pieces so we have a middle piece.

Time to start dressing the burger, first I add some pickle and onions.

Next we add some iceberg lettuce and our signature sauce.

Time to add our middle piece of bread and add some onions and pickles to the second pattie.

After adding some more lettuce and sauce to the second pattie we can crown our king and there we have it , a tasty double stacked burger :).

This really tasted very very close to a Big Mac but I enjoyed my crusty Hokkaido style buns more than the sesame seeded buns McDonalds use.

Double stacking it was probably overkill ,the stack was so tall I struggled to get a full bite.

I think at this point Im pretty close to perfecting my burger game :D.
