I spotted another Kopitiam branch at Paya Lebar, and I’m sure I’ll go back for another lunch. I visited a few days ago, and I can still recall my experience. It’s probably one of the branches with a more exciting vibe—it’s new and looks trendy too.
I enjoy visiting hip places like this because they enhance the overall experience. It’s exciting to see dated food courts revamping their spaces to offer a fresh and modern dining atmosphere. This particular branch at Paya Lebar has an interior designed to appeal to younger diners, and even the food has a contemporary touch. I’m talking about a mixed grill spot called Western Boy!
I usually order chicken chop or pork chop when I visit places like this. But this time, I decided to try the lamb chop with curry sauce. It’s something I rarely order because it’s more expensive, and I’m not very familiar with the taste of lamb. It’s probably because I’m more accustomed to eating chicken, pork, or beef.
This dish cost 12.90 Singaporean dollars, which is equivalent to the price of two to three chicken dishes. So, I had higher expectations for it.
Obviously, the dish looks very appealing, in my opinion. The vibrant colors of the vegetables and side dishes make the meat look even more appetizing. A visually appealing dish like this is a good sign that I’ll enjoy my lunch.
Lamb has a very distinct taste and flavor that’s unmistakable—even if I were to eat it with my eyes closed. It’s fascinating how they managed to blend the meat with the other ingredients and side dishes. What truly makes this dish unique is the use of curry sauce as the gravy. Although I’ve had mutton biryani many times before, this was my first time having curry sauce poured over grilled meat. At first, I questioned my choice for lunch, but in the end, I was quite happy with it.
I also got myself a nice glass of iced lemon tea, which was a great way to cleanse my palate.
Overall, my visit to this Kopitiam branch at Paya Lebar was a satisfying experience, from the trendy ambiance to the flavorful meal. The lamb chop with curry sauce was a bold choice for me, but it turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable. With good food and a refreshing iced lemon tea to top it off, I’d definitely return for another meal!
