In this post, we're sharing some Chiang Mai's Chinatown goodnesses.
I didn't actually realize that Chiang Mai also got a Chinatown just like in Bangkok. No surprise though since Chiang Mai is such a big city with many people from around the world. Also, we're so Chinese influenced throughout the country.
We went strolling around and had a chance to try the 2 popular food places for savory dishes as well as dessert.
First, we went to Thana Ocha Noodle, a noodle place that serves various kinds of noodle, rice dishes and some Chinese rolls. The pink noodle was delicious as they got quite a few types of meat balls all in one bowl. The soup is delicious and even better with the pink fermented bean sauce. We have also tried their crispy pork with rice. The sauce is just the right taste. Not too sweet. The pork is fried the perfect way so it's crispy from outside and soft and juicy from the inside. Last but not least, the Chinese fresh roll. I'm pretty sure it was the same sauce as the rice dish.. Just the right amount of veggies and topping so it sure a great appy!
Continue with some popular place for dessert just around the corner in an actual Chinatown area, Patongo Ko Neng (Praisanee Road Branch). This type of dessert is a deep fried chinese donut called 'Patongo' but instead of the 'x' shape as usual, I don't know how they came up with this idea or how they do it but they have the donut in shapes of elephant, dragon, dinosaur and that source of stuff. I found it pretty cool! Not just the look but it's yummy as well. Crispy out, soft and fluffy from the inside. Can have it dipped in a sweeten condense milk or Thai style egg custard. Yum!
While in Chiang Mai's Chinatown, give these 2 places a go! They are delicious and affordable :)
