RE: Announcing the CINETALKIES in new form

in CineTV3 years ago

The problem with the previous posts were that they were 95% copy and paste from day to day with no substance to the topic to expand it before just adding one or two original lines and literally none of the comments were responded to. This is considered spam and is seen as just a money grab and will not be supported by CineTV.

As long as the original post adds substantive commentary about the daily prompt and not just one or two sentences added to the same copy and paste each day then you will have the support of CineTV. For instance if you add a few paragraphs expounding upon the daily prompt then it will be seen as a legitimate post and will have our support.

Make sure you respond to the comments that are added to your posts as well.

I hope this time the project would be something different and the original posts would have an elaborate challenges to complete. I studied a good amount of cinema due to the challenges in these posts.

I think as the community owner or moderator you should also speak to those who contribute. You have your own perspective but I remember that you stopped @interpretation from publishing statistics on cinetv now you are alleging @cinetalkies to be money grabber. I think there is a need to see the broader picture for community. I think its a decentralised place

Nice to see you are bringing this back! I feel it is a shame you did not want to talk to us at all about why we downvoted it as they were the only posts we every downvoted! We love cinema and film, however it was difficult seeing a "Engagement" post where comments are not being engaged with day after day because then it looks like spam! However if you are going to be engaging people talking about cinema with some good themes to chat about this time then it will be awesome to have you back.

I saw your downvotes. Those articles were spammy. Sometimes people DV and they don't have time to a long explanation. @cinetalkies did you reach out to them? These guys don't maliciously downvote. Engagement is critical on either side.

Thanks bro not they didn’t reach out but will just leave them to do their thing! We never down voted on anything before but we’re finding it frustrating! Did not really think about the reaction! However if they want to actually talk about films we more than happy to chat

We shouldn't have to worry about the reaction. I could understand the reaction if they reached out and you were rude, but that never happened. Anyway, talking about films is cool especially if it isn't spammy.

Yes we love films! Problem is when I go on Cine my watch list is getting longer and longer!

It's a slippery slope between spam and original content. Engagement is original, but so should the article's content. I'll be getting into this area soon enough on POB and VYB.

Template articles provide nearly identical structure in each article. A problem comes in to play when the content is also essentially identical. There's nothing new or original to present to the community. I would recommend at least 50%/50% original content and recycled content.

I guess, we all love cinema. And together we will grow. If you look at the statistics #cine is far away from other communities inspite of being such an interesting theme. Overall if you study the basics of SEO you will understand the importance of engagement from google's eyes. #cinetalkies is the initiative which is helpful for the cine community in many ways. Hence, I feel if some one is doing the job, and there are some improvements needed then you should sort it out rather than downvoting. You draw memes, which I may not like. But its needed for the growth of community so if I start downvoting just because I dont like what you do then its not fair. You probably did the same thing. The initiative was helping many of us to see the cinema or rather study the cinema from different perspective. The challenges given were helping us to study the cinema. I never knew many aspects of Indian cinema inspite of being avid cinema lover. #cinetalkies was giving us that perspective. Some user was publishing korean facts. I think this was much more value addition. I guess you never participated or commented. You have your perspective but its not necessary that it should be correct. Hence, if you can not encourage dont destroy. @gimmetricks1 has figured out ways to fight with downvotes now but my advise would be please dont fight

I hear what you are saying! I think our reaction came from a frustrated place as we loved the idea of cine! I guess we reacted without thinking and it was maybe not the best way! We apologies to @gimmetricks1 but am also really happy he has come back understanding the need to engage with comments!

Duplicate comment. It happens on the POB front end at times, though much less frequently now.

yes bit annoying when it does lol

I know. If it happens again, you can tag me on it if you can't remove it. It's more on a technical need than anything else. I can report it to POBio and thus the dev for the front end.
