Running a family and doing a full-time job takes away all my hours. Many of you ladies would relate how we need to run with the clock from dawn to dusk to finish off everything.
Having a moment for just for me - I can't remember where was the last time I had this.
This sounds horrible, a lifestyle. I wouldn't lie, I was never very concerned about my mental health, but focused on the financial side to pay off my debt until I got sick during the pandemic. That pause gave me a hard lesson to not ignore my emotions and bring mindfulness in life.
It's still not possible for me to have an hour of mediation session or go out on a mindful walk. But what I do is what I can fit in my schedule. And those are-
Take a two minutes of pause in between my work. It's easy to look away from the screen, walk around the workplace, or just close my eyes for a minute rather than having a half an hour session. Doctors say that having a 20 seconds pause is good for the eyes. And I believe, having a minute of pause is also good for our brain.
Doing extra work for nothing is the major reason for stress. For my peace, I learned to say 'no' and set boundaries. To bring my inner peace, I feel it's very necessary to create space for myself and my family. Doing this gives me a few extra minutes to do that.
Accept and roll on is my new motto of life to be peaceful. Facing the situation with a resisting mindset was only increasing my stress. Now, I accept even my biggest failure and look for a solution immediately rather than looking back and finding out my flaws. This practice works like a weapon, to be honest.
Another day-to-day practice feeling grateful for what I have. If I say this is the biggest practice and I put this over everything, even meditation, this wouldn't be wrong, for me. Because training our brain and setting a mindset to be thankful, to be grateful is the biggest practice.
It gives us a whole new angle to see life. I may not have much, but what I have is precious to me.
A busy life means, squishing everything in between and making room for work and family in a properly balanced way. Doing this is hard but not impossible. I may not do much for my mental health. But I'm learning every day and readjusting my life accordingly.

In as much as we want to care and support our family and friends, if we are not strong enough, we won't be able to achieve that. In this I mean not just being financially buoyant but also being mentally strong. We all need to learn how to take care of ourselves even in the mist of chaos.

I agree with you on this. Our family depends on us and that's why our sanity is important to keep us going healthily.

Thank you.
It really isn't easy having a busy schedule for oneself so one can imagine how harder it is having a schedule full of one's personal activities and that of the family's. Yet, the family has to keep running. You're a hero. 👍
And I so agree with the statement you made about doing what's worth one's time. Imagine squeezing in an extra work into an already busy schedule and not getting the value for it. That's definitely draining.
I like your tip on the taking a 20 seconds break. I hope to start practicing that henceforth.
Days are busy. If unnecessary things takes away a good chunk of our day that we can't focus on the meaniful thing. It took me a long way to learn and apply this in my life. I hope you can apply some small positive changes to improve your mental health and bring mindfulness in life.
