Freeing some tokens from the IDEX Prison

in HODL4 years ago

Being a U.S. Citizen who doesn't mind doing KYC because I really don't feel like there is any reason not to, I got caught in a bit of a rock and a hard space dilemma with IDEX.

You see, when I took my break from #STEEM, I also took a break from most of my crypto wallet. Everything was down 90% from my purchase price, it was basically useless to open my Delta App and stare at all of these tokens that had become basically useless. So for months at a time, I didn't pay any attention to my balances.

So I was not active when IDEX locked U.S. Citizens out of most of the tokens traded on their platform. When I came back, it was a done deal. I could see my tokens, But I couldn't buy/sell or deposit those tokens.

Well okay. Just withdraw them back to your Ethereum wallet right? Wrong. These tokens had depreciated so much, that they were worth less than the minimum transfer amount.

On IDEX to withdraw your tokens you need to have a minimum of 0.04 #ETH worth of the token to transfer out. So when you have a insignificant amount of tokens, you get a message like this:

This one? That was me trying to Withdraw 4000 #XYO tokens just now. XYO is actually a token I took profit on back in the day, and this is a moon bag I left in case it took off. It is a really teeny amount and I could just let it rot on IDEX as a "burned token", but back in December of 2018 I sold 4500 XYO for .166 ETH. When you are talking about ETH having been over $1000 at it's ATH, that .166 ETH is not such a small sum, so every now and then I take a look at my IDEX balances to see if I can free up some tokens.

Last night I saw that DEVERY (#EVE) was doing a little bit of moving. So I spent the evening signing withdraw requests as my balance value went from 83% of the required amount, until I got to this message

Yikes! 99.99%?!?!?! Give me a break, just allow the freaking withdraw. I tried to free this stuff up for about an hour before I finally gave up and called it a night. I was sure when I woke up it would be back down to 87% or something and I would be stuck again.

But this morning, I gave it a try, just for fun, and what do you know! Success! I was finally able to take my EVE off of IDEX.

Now I just have a few more little bags sitting on IDEX that I am hoping to peel off of there eventually:

Sharder (#SS)
BlockEx (#DAXT)
OCoin (#OCN)

The rest are projects that my token balance has gone to effectively $0.0000001 and I have little to no hope for those. But the three above I feel like still have a chance to get back to that 0.04 ETH requirement, and I hope to be in the right place at the right time to get them free so I can take them somewhere I can sell them.
