Hosts Decentralizing Airbnb

Airbnb offered a platform for owners to rent their homes on a short-term basis.

In exchange for the service, the platform took a piece of the action. This is the classic "middleman" in between users and the hosts.

The situation got a bit worse since Airbnb upset many of the renters where their lack of a refund policy due to the coronavirus.

Hosts are now taking matters into their own hands. They are now building platforms themselves which cut out the likes of Airbnb and Booking.com.

Many had plans on the works before the pandemic but this just sped things up.
