Saludos comunidad, en esta oportunidad vengo a contarles mi experiencia en el arte de la costura.
Greetings community, in this opportunity I come to tell you my experience in the art of sewing.
Debo comenzar diciendo que mi profesión es Ingeniera Civil, y que nunca había utilizado una máquina de coser, o si quiera coser a mano. Siempre he sido muy impaciente y no me gusta realizar actividades de manualidades. Pienso que aquella persona que realiza estas actividades, es porque nacen con un Don maravilloso, algunas lo aprovechan al máximo, otras solo lo necesario.
I should start by saying that my profession is a Civil Engineer, and that I have never used a sewing machine, or even sewed by hand. I have always been very impatient and I don't like to do handicraft activities. I think that the person who performs these activities, is because they are born with a wonderful gift, some take full advantage of it, others only what is necessary.
Sin embargo, la vida nos coloca en situaciones en las que debemos tomar caminos diferentes a los pensados. Con el inicio de la pandemia, aunado a la situación país de Venezuela, que es mi país natal y sitio en que vivo, me toco buscar una nueva forma de obtener ingresos. Y como Dios nunca me abandona, me presentó la oportunidad de comercializar una ropa interior de dama que era confeccionada por un familiar de mi esposo.
However, life puts us in situations where we have to take different paths than we thought. With the onset of the pandemic, coupled with the situation in Venezuela, which is my native country and where I live, I had to look for a new way to earn income. And since God never abandons me, I was presented with the opportunity to market women's underwear that was made by one of my husband's relatives.
De esta manera comencé a tener una lista de clientes amplia y con el ello la búsqueda de otras prendas para confeccionar como pijamas, blusas, vestidos. En vista de este crecimiento, surge la idea de crear una ropa deportiva, en conjunto con mi esposo, la cual iniciamos desde cero. Ubicando un modelo de short deportivo, seleccionar un nombre y un logo para nuestra marca, nos pusimos en marcha.
In this way I began to have a large list of customers and with it the search for other garments to make such as pajamas, blouses, dresses. In view of this growth, the idea of creating a sportswear, together with my husband, we started from scratch. We found a model of sports shorts, selected a name and a logo for our brand, and we set off.
No puedo decir que fue algo fácil, ni rápido, ni mucho menos sencillo, pero lo logramos. Pudimos sacar patrones para estos shorts, ubicamos una tela de buena calidad y nos dedicamos a sacar los primeros modelos para poder mostrarlos. Aprendimos a dibujar patrones por tallas e incluso a cortar las telas. Ya solo nos faltaba aprender a coser para realizar esas piezas en su totalidad, por nosotros mismos.
I can't say it was easy, or quick, or even simple, but we did it. We were able to draw patterns for these shorts, we located a good quality fabric and we dedicated ourselves to draw the first models to be able to show them. We learned how to draw patterns by size and even how to cut the fabrics. Now we only needed to learn how to sew to make these pieces in their entirety, by ourselves.
Y es allí cuando me animo a buscar un curso de corte y costura. Cualquier persona que me conoce, al saber mi idea de aprender a coser no lo creyó posible, creían que ni siquiera lo terminaría. Pero me considero insistente y cuando quiero algo lo logro, aun con las dificultades que se puedan presentar.
And that's when I decided to look for a cutting and sewing course. Anyone who knows me, when they heard about my idea of learning to sew, didn't believe it was possible, they thought I wouldn't even finish it. But I consider myself insistent and when I want something I achieve it, even with the difficulties that may arise.
Con dificultades me refiero a que no contaba con máquina de coser, y como mencione nunca había usado una. De esta experiencia debo decirles que aprendí a diseñar patrones de otras piezas de ropa como blusas, faldas, pantalones. Lo que más me costó fue la costura, pero con práctica todo es posible. Sin dejar a un lado la paciencia, y aunque no es mi fuerte logre hacerlo.
By difficulties I mean that I didn't have a sewing machine, and as I mentioned I had never used one. From this experience I must tell you that I learned to design patterns for other pieces of clothing such as blouses, skirts, pants. What cost me the most was the sewing, but with practice everything is possible. Without leaving aside the patience, and although it is not my forte, I managed to do it.
El único inconveniente es que todo lo confeccione para mi hija de 9 años, ya que me pareció que la costura de niñas es mucho más fácil. Culmine el nivel básico, sin embargo espero continuar el avanzado y con ello practicar para elaborar los shorts deportivos que ofrecemos en muestra marca.
The only drawback is that I made everything for my 9 year old daughter, since I found that sewing for girls is much easier. I finished the basic level, but I hope to continue with the advanced level and with it practice to make the sports shorts that we offer in our brand.
Nadie dijo que esto se daría de un día para otro, lo importante es persistir y no desistir.
Nobody said that this would happen overnight, the important thing is to persist and not give up.
Felicitaciones, porque eres una mujer emprendedora, que se arriesga y que no tiene miedo a aprender con tal de conseguir lo que anhelas. Sabemos que te irá muy bien con estos aprendizajes en costura y con tu emprendimiento.
