A new Christmas tradition 🎅🏻🎄☃️
Growing up I never made gingerbread houses, not even once I don't think. It's not that I didn't have an awesome family to celebrate Christmas with all throughout my childhood, I think decorating the tree was just our main focus. Now that I have @flowerbaby in my life, we are always looking for fun things to do together. Evidently, she built many gingerbread houses growing up. So she has started sharing her memories with me and has shown me how building a proper gingerbread house is done.
Last year we built our very first gingerbread house together. I actually made a post about that, which you can view here. It was a lot easier than I expected it to be, however it did require quite a bit of patience and precision. This year she got us a different kit and we set out to outdo our creation from last winter.
I kid you not when I say @flowerbaby knows what she is doing with these gingerbread houses. She ripped open the box and had all of the items separated in no time. I'm not sure if she likes building these because she is crafty, or because she knows she will get to eat icing pretty much the entire time. My little sugar addict, I love her to death.
She had the tube of icing set up quickly and I was working on building the base in no time. I was there to hold things in place while they found their own balance once the icing had kind of glued everything together.
After we got the walls and roof put together, she began adding heart designs, windows, and doors. As she finished one side, I began placing the candy to add color and personality. We worked together to totally personalize this cute little gingerbread house. My hands struggled to place the tiny little pieces and her hands had to try so hard just to squeeze that icing out. Perhaps we should have switched places, but we made it work.
As you can see, the house came together marvelously. @flowerbaby even added some snow on the ground out front. I had fun making this craft together and I know she did too. I refrained from gorging on the icing unlike her. It is as if she knew she was doing something bad, she giggled every single time she took a big finger full of icing and enjoyed that sweet flavor.
We will be leaving this thing in my kitchen as a decoration throughout the holidays. Just like last year, we won't end up eating the house. Part of me feels like this is a waste of sweet treats. However, @flowerbaby helps me understand that it is part of the tradition. The house is not necessarily meant to be eaten. It is the process of building together and making another everlasting memory that really matters.
I look forward to 2022 where we will undoubtedly be building another gingerbread house together. I have to hand it to @flowerbaby, the girl understands the delicate process of building a house such as this one. Another thing she is awesome at is playing Christmas music, which we got to enjoy throughout the entirety of this fun little process.
I hope you enjoyed getting to see our creation. I wish you and your family happy holidays and hopefully, you too can take the time to build an exquisite gingerbread house such as this one. I love you @flowerbaby, thanks for getting me to do things that I wouldn't think to do if I were alone in this world.

What a lovely experience! I've never built a gingerbread house before, and neither has my partner, but seeing this I felt the desire to buy a kit ourselves and give it a try. Looks like you guys had a blast doing this Christmassy activity. Family material, am I right? Wishing you guys all the happiness.
One thing I can't wrap my head around, how can you not eat the house? I might have to bend the rules a bit if I ever get to do this. There's no way I'm not eating my house when it's done! Hahaha
The whole process really is a lot easier than I imagined it to be. Just have to be patient and careful not to break any of the main pieces of the house. This will surely be a great memory for you and yours to make together.
I guess I just tell myself that eating the house is like eating glue... Although in this case, the clue is icing. I have never eaten my crafts in the past, why start now? I also have to worry about the fact that @flowerbaby would be sad if the house disappeared before Christmas got here. By the time the holiday arrives, the sugary treats will be stale.
I love you so much! That is a terrible photo of me though 😝🤣 I love making Christmas traditions with you, next year we need a tree 😉
All photos of you are good. This was a lot of fun. I love you and am glad that we got to do this together again.
I'm so glad you have fun activities together, I saw last year's little house, we are definitely getting better, hahaha! But I think it won't last long, I plan to eat the little house.
I knew just the community to post this activity too. We had a lot of fun doing this together. I am not sure how I manage to not eat this house, despite the fact that it is sitting on my kitchen counter during this very moment.
haha! with coffee and milk or hot chocolate. I would have liked to see part of the process jijiji. This way they show us how to make it.
I probably should have taken photos of us throughout this, but I didn't want to disrupt our time together. Usually, kits like these come with instructions that are easy to follow.
It looks so sweet, I hope it survives from being eaten till the holidays arrive lol.
I will protect this house from the sugar-addicted demons that lurk around, no matter the cost!
Very pretty! I always wonder if people eat them after the holidays or just throw them away.
It's a hard no for me. As much as I love gingerbread, this is for decoration only. The cookie probably tastes good, but I'm not so sure about that candy.
I probably wouldn't eat it because it's been sitting out all those days during the holiday season. Have a great day and weekend! 😀
