A few days ago I reached the milestone of 3k SPS staked and decided to do an SPS giveaway this season. If you haven't yet, you can still enter here. If 10 people enter, the jackpot will go to 5 SPS.

Like all my giveaways, you can enter until the current season ends.

Good luck!

In this weekly challenge we face a card from the latest Chaos Legion booster series again - the Kulu Swimhunter.
Taking a closer look requires some caution as we do not want to get hit in the head by a hypersonic fish or get strangled by slinky tentac..aarrrghhlllgrlgll...

Stats
of the fish-weilding Octopus

Let's have a closer look at this hunting monster of the seas.

Stats.PNG

At 4 mana it offers a nice 2 ranged attack. Aside from that there are no interesting stat bumps at lower lever, nor any abilities.
I reckon this is the reason I rarely play the card aside from little league...

Rules
that make it viable

Little league combined with the farty fumes that deprive everyone on the battlefield of 2 hitpoints each round is rough. There are a lot of nice low mana cards, but you have to make sure they can take a few fish to the face before they kick the bucket or you will just lose in round one or waste your time with a tie.

The Lineup
to beat them all

Like most of the time the new summoners are just too good, especially with plenty mana. The armor buff on all those little guys is really valuable.

With Kelya I can't play my leveled up Xenith Monk, which is sad, but it's still the best choice here with 6 HP. Probably the most HP you can get for 4 mana. Would have been more fun to put him in the back with the heal to sustain the nasty poisoning and watch everything else die around it. Maybe next time.

One of the more tankier baby cards. Serves not much purpose here as it can't attack, but you kinda need a second tank in those matches if the first one gets focused down right away.

Used in pretty much every little league because of the stats and the Swiss neutrality.

Same stats as the Elven Mystic, but the River Nymph also provides the cleanse ability on top of that. Not of much use when there is nothing to cleanse, but in higher leagues you might run into a blight or some other anthrax parcel delivery on your healer and you will be happy to have some antidote to that.

One of the cards you never use, but it's the only 5 HP card and 5 is greater than 4 which results in surviving 2 rounds of farts which is enough to become a visitor of the graveyard instead of a resident.

And finally at the back we have the reckless killer. Pretty important to have at least 2 regular damage in those matches, especially if Antoid Platoon is an option and you don't want it to ruin your day.
If you aren't angelic or a mandarin, at least you have to offer damage to a shield tank, so a little league game with plenty of mana just makes this guy mandatory. Interestingly enough it doesn't seem to be picked a lot outside the limited mana value games.

Battle
analysis and recap

My opponent went for a Kelya lineup as well, but I'm slightly confused by the positioning of their monsters. Moving Kulu towards the front is not the best idea, even if you might face sneaky snobblers. Using 1 and 2 HP cards when ebola is around the corner is not a smart move either, but with the crappy rewards in low leagues it's probably not worth putting more work into coding those bots, I reckon.
In the end it was the Angelic Mandarin that decided the game in our favor, but the squid will still be a must for all little leagues in hydroponic. In any other situation there might be better options though as ranged always comes with a risk.

The rewards keep beeing a bigger dissapointment than a pair of boxers for christmas, but maybe the next season rewards will be more entertaining and they finally get rid of the looting bots soon?
