For those who are new to the Splinterlands Digital Trading Card game, it may be worthwhile to read the basics of gameplay first.

Get the Splinterlands Spellbook to unlock the ability to earn from battles and complete daily quests

In order to earn in Splinterlands, first you’ll have to get the Spellbook. The Spellbook will give you access to earn Dark Energy Crystals (DEC, the Splinterlands in-game currency), cards, items, and packs, complete daily quests for rewards, and play in tournaments for prizes.

Play ranked games and win DEC when you win

The simplest way to start earning is by playing ranked games. Each time you win a ranked game, you earn some amount of DEC based on your Rank, League, Win Rate, and any DEC bonuses your cards or guild membership gives you.

When you’re just starting, the rewards will be pretty small, but as you win more games, the DEC rewards will increase. As you play ranked matches and move up the ranks, you’ll naturally earn more and more DEC.

One key thing that will hold you back though… is the strength of your deck. Which brings us to the next tip!

Invest in better cards to increase your win rate, ranking, and league either by renting or buying them

If you want to earn a lot more DEC when playing ranked games, it’s best to invest in better cards so that you can rise up in the Leagues and maximize your win rate to increase your rank.

Your league membership is limited in two ways:

  • First, by your ranking itself. The more you win, the higher your rank (simple enough!)
  • Second, your league membership is limited by your “collection power.”

Win More Battles with Better Cards & Raise Your Rank!

This is likely the simplest part to understand here… the better your cards, or the more options you have… the more you’re able to win battles and collect DEC rewards.

To get better cards you can buy cards from the market, buy and open packs to get cards, rent cards, or even trade or borrow cards from friendly players directly.

As you play the game, see which cards keep beating you then do what you can to add them to you collection to start turning the tides in your favor!

Collection Power

Each league has minimum collection power requirements in order to advance. So to rise up the league ranks you’ll have to keep increasing your collection power.

Collection power is a little complicated to explain, but put most simply, the bigger your card collection OR the more valuable/rare the cards you own.. the more collection power you have.

Collection power for your account counts whether you own the cards, are renting them, or even if someone friendly is lending the cards to you.

Here’s a video that talks more about the best ways to acquire collection power for cheap from @bulldog1205

Best Place to Buy Cards

My favorite place to get cards that has the most tools to find the best deals, buy cards in bulk, or find cards with specific abilities is PeakMonsters.com

Complete Daily Quests for DEC, Potions, Cards, and Sometimes even Packs!

To get some free DEC, simply complete your daily quests! You’ll be given a set of quests every 24 hours to complete. Daily Quests reward you with anywhere from one or more chests (depending on your league) which you can open to find DEC, Cards, Potions, and sometimes even Packs!

You can see your current quest from the battle screen. Quests generally require winning a certain number of battles (normally 5, sometimes only 3) with either a specific splinter type or by using cards with a specific ability.

Once you complete your quest you can claim your reward, open your chest and see what loot you got!

Bonus Tip: You can also get Quest Potions in the shop to add 5 chests to your quest reward per charges. This definitely adds to the fun of your daily quests but may not always be worth the cost - so do your research before purchasing these Quest potions.

Rent your cards on the market to earn passive recurring crypto

With a recent update, Splinterlands added a way for you to rent cards on the Splinterlands market. This is an excellent way to start earning DEC passively over time!

Find your cards that you don’t often use and put them up for rent to have other players be able to rent your cards from you.

Because this is done with smart contracts through the hive blockchain that Splinterlands is built on - everything happens fairly automatically.

The best part is you still safely retain ownership of your cards!

Looking for the best place to make renting your cards out easy and maximize your profit?

Here's a great article that talks about some ways to maximize your rental values on PeakMonsters - https://peakd.com/hive-126911/@peakmonsters/quickly-listing-a-lot-of-cards-on-the-rental-market

Rise Up Through the Leagues to Get More Daily Rewards and More End of Season Rewards

As you rise into new leagues, you will also start getting more rewards.

Not only do you start getting more DEC from each won battle, but you’ll also start getting more chests from your daily quests and more chests in your end of season rewards as well!

Sell the cards you don’t need on the market

You may find that there are some cards that you either don’t use much or that they’re just worth more than you need to get wins.

Go ahead and list those cards for sale on the splinterlands marketplace!

You’ll be able to make some quick DEC and either take the profit or turn it into cards that will better help you win more games.

If you want to sell a LOT of cards easily, or quickly check to see what you should list your cards for...

Get paid in Crypto Tokens to Write about Splinterlands on Splintertalk.io or using the #spt topic on a hive.blog front-end like PeakD.com

If you like to create content about the Splinterlands Digital Trading Card game, use your talents and earn rewards at Splintertalk.io or on another hive.blog site like PeakD.com by using the #spt topic!

When you blog using the #spt topic or using the Splintertalk.io website, people can vote on your content and you’ll earn SPT tokens.

These tokens can be held, traded, or even converted into Fiat through an exchange like Hive-engine.com or Tribaldex.com.

Every week, the Splinterlands team runs fun contests or promotions that make it pretty simple to try your hand at creating content in the community and readily earning some tokens!

Increase your DEC ranked battle winnings by joining a guild

Splinterlands has guilds! Once you’ve gotten the hang of the game (or maybe even before!) consider joining one of the splinterlands guilds.

Guild members can join guild brawls to earn guild specific rewards and cards.

Plus, as your guild rises through the ranks you’ll also get a DEC bonus on every one of your ranked battle wins!

Increase your DEC ranked battle winnings with Gold Cards, Alpha Cards, or Promo Cards

Gold Cards, Alpha Cards and Promo cards give you a DEC reward boost in ranked battles.

This works whether you own the cards or even if you’re renting or have them delegated to you.

It’s a great way to easily add some more DEC to your winnings!

During the Splintershards Airdrop, get SPS tokens by holding Splinterlands assets like Cards, Packs, Land, and More!

Splinterlands has recently launched it’s new governance token called “Splintershards” (SPS).

For the next year or so, you can participate in the SPS airdrop and get free SPS just for holding Splinterlands assets like cards, DEC, and others.

To learn more about SPS, check out the white paper here

Stake SPS to compound your SPS earnings

Not only can you earn SPS through the current airdrop, you can also stake your SPS to get more SPS!

The APR rate varies from day to day, but you can stake your SPS tokens and start earning more immediately.

This is a great way to put them to use for you and earning even more passive crypto.

Play Splinterlands Tournaments and win for prizes

Every day, splinterlands has different splinterlands tournaments available.

Most have some sort of fee to enter, but there’s almost always tournaments that are designed to minimize (or eliminate) risk for new players and just provide a fun environment to play in a different way.

As you win tournaments you have the opportunity to earn prizes like DEC, Cards, Packs, Other NFTs, and More!

Put Your Tokens to Work on Other Exchanges in Liquidity Pools and More!

Not only can you earn crypto through all of the ways I described above, but you can put your DEC & SPS to work for you on other exchanges as well in Liquidity pools, staking pools and more!

Some of the common options are CubDefi.com or Pancakeswap.com

Wrapping it Up

I hoped this has helped you see all the great ways that you can participate in this fun “Play to Earn” game.

Whether you ’re new to crypto and just looking for a few tokens or whether you’re an experienced trader, splinterlands is the next step in Social Games!

Boa explicação sobre os principais tópicos do jogo.

Well explained love it, you explain everything about this project.

I would really like some mentorship, some tutorial or something, maybe a decent card. I've been playing for awhile now and I have been getting my butt kicked alot.

Hey @frost77 - thanks for the comment.

I'd poke around on hive.blog (I prefer the peakd.com front end) and search for "beginner card" recommendations.

I also know that @bulldog1205 has been doing some great videos on YouTube. You can see one of his videos in this article - that should let you click through and see some others.

I am already subscribed to bull dog on YouTube. But I appreciate the response bubba. Idk, I have some pretty good cards. I made it all the way to silver. -shrugs.- once I got knocked out of silver though I haven't been able to climb back into it....

Idk, I'll figure it out.

There's a few things that play into that:

  1. There's a lot more players coming into the game right now so more competition
  2. At the beginning of a new season, you're battling against more people who were high ranked than you do at the end of the season... because the matches are done trying to match you to a similar rank. So the longer the seasons runs, the more you're battling against people that are closer in reality to your rank.

See how it goes as the season progresses :)

Indeed bud!! Thank you for the thoughts!. And I think I need to focus on leveling up my summoners next time, this time I worked the levels of my monsters higher. So I need to get my summoners stronger. Is there a place that has a list of the current monsters and their abilities?

Peakmonsters.com is my go to for looking for monsters/summoners and abilities (you can search for cards by ability there)

@peakmonsters

I don't understand how to place a bid, also how do I buy the packs? It's kinda confusing to me.
