My unsuccessful attempt to grow spinach through hydroponic farming method and what I achieve next

in HiveGarden3 months ago

Hello friends !

Welcome to my blog again. I am so glad that you are here.

Somedays ago i shared that first time i tried something new... hydroponic farming.

This is a method where we grow our plant without soil, just using water and some nutritions. I also share that this is the electricity based.

Here is the link of that blog :

For 4-5 days it goes well, my spinach start to grow. With this method, plants really grow faster than the soil method.

But suddenly motor stopped to work. We tried to fix it but could not be. And slowly our spinach started getting spoiled....

Our first attempt was unsuccessful , which you can see in the above pictures, but we're trying to fix the motor otherwise we will replace it. Till we again used old and evergreen soil based method and grow spinach, okra, coriander and tomato. Spinach has start to grow, But no other plant has come out yet. Now just waiting for the best .

We also grow spinach in Polly bag, and it start to grow.

When I started the hydrophonic system I was very excited....But after a few days when the motor stopped working then it really felt bad. But all this is a part of whenever we start something new..
So I motivated myself again and started soil based farming.

This time good vegetables have grown in our field too and I am feeling very good seeing them....I was sad because of unsuccessful attempt of Hydrophonic...But there are many reasons to be happy in this world...so I'm happy to see my new spinach plant and the organic vegetables at our field. I'll share the detailed blog soon, here is some glimpses of that field...

I've a lot of to share from our field....

So, this is my entry for monthly garden challenge the #gardenjournal for the August month.

Thank you so much for your time, support and love 🤍🌸

@mysteriousroad Hello I have some experience with hydroponic cultivation, at home, the way I learned, I think it is more practical, wooden tables are built according to space, and you make a drainage to place a small hose is lined with black plastic, I do not remember the caliber, then the substrate is placed which is the rice husk, or aliven, or coconut beard. There the seeds are placed in furrows, and are watered every day with nutrients, and always be aware of grooming the plant to keep them standing. I would like to show you a brochure.

Just excellent. Soil farming is good but a little extra manual labour required. The spinach is looking so fresh in the field. Healthy food, healthy living. I don't have this big, but I do have a garden with little veggies for my day to day use. Keep posting. 👏👏

That's great 👍 own food gives satisfaction 😄
Thanks for stopping by 🙏

We are not always successful at all but that's great you also try to grow plants directly on soil. Keep going

Yeah... success and failure is the part of it....I am happy that at least I tried and I also learnt many new things 😄
Thank you so much for stopping by 🙏
Have a wonderful day and weekend ❤️

I love the idea of hydroponics, but as you pointed out.. if that motor stops it quickly becomes a problem. At least with dirt the water is retained and lasts awhile..

I may try out hydroponics one day.. maybe even aquaponics, but I think I will start simple.

This is a good method...If everything goes well ....
The crop does not get damaged for 2-3 days even if the motor stops...but in my case My motor has not been repaired yet....

Most of the time the impeller burns up in the pump.. It will sound like its running but no water is coming through.

You can replace those parts, usually when you buy a new pump they come with an extra impeller.

Looks like you need rockwool or some kind of cotton for hydroponics. it is the right support for growing hydroponic vegetable seeds.

aha that looks great thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much 😊

Thank you so much 😊

What is the cost of that hydroponic system ? Shouldn't the company fix it ? I mean some kind of warranty should be there ?

The cost of that system is 10k... actually my father in-law bought it 3 years ago but didn't use it...I used it and the motor stopped working after a few days....
We give it to an electrician, let's see what happens 😀

It is sad to see that you lost your spinach to the failed motor. I know how much effort it takes to set it all up. I too, had a power outage once and lost my entire crop in the hydroponics. Sad for sure.

Yeah... once I feel so sad but then I tried it with a Polly bag and now I am happy 🙂

I think I prefer the farm on the natural land than the hydrophobic own🤣

Soil farming is best method as compared to other... Hydroponic method is the new technology, i have Seen it for first time...

So sad to hear that the spinach died, The traditional method is always in a win-win situation, Share some vegetables after harvest 😄. Thanks in advance 😃. Keep rocking like this.

That's awesome
