The First Ever Hive Meet Up with Old Hive Friends and Newbie Onboards Tomorrow January 24, 2025 3pm at Blackscoop Cafe

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITYlast month (edited)

The long wait is over. I have never thought that I can organize such a small event as this with the help of my longtime Hiver friend @godlovermel25 . It started from a chat that we will do a meet-up crypto Kaia meet-up for just 6 persons, but I suggested why don't we do a Hive meet-up also here in Cagayan De Oro as I have some Hive newbie oboards here in my city.

I suggested that we need to get a Hive shirt and discussed that we will contribute from our own pockets for the Hive T shirt and printing. Last week I withdrawn some HBD from my wallet to share for the cost of Hive T shirts. The meet-up will be held at Blackscoop Cafe located at Corrales Cagayan De Oro City. I have done some crypto meet-ups here before, and I think this is one of the best places also for Hive meet-ups as they offer free internet for their customers so we can discuss more about Hive while browsing the Hive website and explain to the newbies about the Hive Blockchain.

I have done so many web3 meetups before from Manila, and what I like about blockchain meetups is that I can gain more knowledge and can ask some questions personally from the blockchain organizers if there is something that I do not understand.

I became a writer since 2010, and because the site is not decentralized, the blogsite usually lasts only a year or two. When I discovered Steemit before (I hope you don't mind that I mention it here), I am inviting all my blogger friends from all over the world, and I can see most of them are now active and successful here in Hive.

Wayback 2017: I do not even know what is blockchain, and I do not even know that the future I am joining is cryptocurrency. All that I do is that I enjoy writing and I enjoy making friends by reading posts and by engaging. Till I joined meetups, I slowly understood what is cryptocurrency blockchain.

I started onboarding and coaching newbies since 2017, and until now I am still doing the same passion of writing and onboarding. It was not that easy because I have to guide them and answer their queries, and I didn't expect that I would onboard a lot of newbies. I think I have onboarded 100 newbie users already.

I was using Ecency before for a newbie account creation, but now I am using Inleo because the newbie sign-up's always having a problem with VPN, but in Inleo it was smooth, but of course still the guidance to create an account is a must.

Basically, I am guiding newbie onbooards for:

  1. Account Creation

  2. How to login to Hive, blog, and peakd

3.How to create a post

4.The most important is to create original content.

5.Own pictures is a must.

6.The importance of engagement

7.How to use Hive wallet and withdraw

8.The importance of Hive keys

9.The importance of hive power

10.Community posting and its theme and rules

11.Withdraw from Hive wallet to Binance

12.How to join community contests or challenges

I think I forgot to mention here, and our daily training or coaching is continuing and slowly building a training team, not only the Hive coaching that I am doing but also the cryptocurrency coaching, but I only prefer a NO-investment cryptocurrency.

So I am excited to meet my fellow Hiver friends tomorrow, January 24, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Blacscoop Cafe with @godlovermel25, @godslove123, @luthis26, and @nelliemae87. I am sure we have a lot to discuss tomorrow, and I hope that there will also be a Hive meetup from other parts of Mindanao, Philippines.

Please encourage all the newcomers you're onboarding to read the ASEAN Hive Community rules before posting and to demonstrate some longform engagement that demonstrates they're taking the time to read the posts of others.

The overwhelming majority are demonstrating little to no engagement, and the ones that are engaging are merely commenting on photos or saying nice post. The amount of newbies in ASEAN Hive is now bigger than the longterm members who work hard to keep the community sustainable.

Half of the people you've onboarded will probably be muted soon because the drop in engagement is negatively affecting the community. Also, our limited grassroots HP is stretched thin. I notice you've never bothered to build up any HP of your own to contribute to ASEAN Hive, but I would recommend it and recommend the people you're onboarding to consider supporting ASEAN Hive via genuine engagement. If everyone follows your model of constantly powering down everything you earn, it will drive down the value of HIVE. It is good to invest a little in this platform if you plan to promote it so much.

Sorry for the rant but I have spent hours each day recommending the newbies to follow rules, engage, etc., but if they're being onboarded by a veteran this shouldn't become my responsibility.

Thank you so much for addressing this concerned to me @asean.hive I have encouraged them that engagement is very important and they should the post and engage a long comment about the post.I think as new accounts they are also having a problem with their resource credits that makes their engagement limitted.I have a direct contact with them which I aware them about the rules to follow But I will follow up them all to do a quality post and a quality engagement might be some of them are busy too because they are also working as ESL Teacher but I will do my best to implement to them rules and they should follow and if still not I think they desserve that their acc will be muted as I already told them about that since the first day.

The stream of newcomers mentioning your account seems to be endless, and now it's a serious drain on the voting power of our little grassroots community. There are now newbies in the last month or two than longterm ASEAN Hivers, and that would be awesome if even half of them were making time for sustainable genuine engagement.

I have noticed an uptick in longform comments, but rarely do I see a comment that demonstrates the person took time to actually read the post. The comments are targeted towards the photos and post title mostly, and the engagement is not as sustainable levels.

Especially for newbies I recommend to critically read and leave thoughtful comments on 10 posts for every post they publish, and with this kind of behavior we can all theoretically hope to have at least ten comments on our blog posts if we all follow this. It now seems the community has kind of lost it's identity a bit to due to these changes.

My already busy job now has a few more hours each day spent muting posts that don't follow community guidelines, reminding your newbies to engage, checking for proof of brain, and I don't know how much longer I can keep it up. If resource credits are needed for commenting, that is easy because even an account with only 500 HP could provide enough resource credits for an endless stream of people to comment and engage.

It has to be quality over quantity, that's what ASEAN Hive is built upon. At this current rate though I am going to have either close the ASEAN Hive Community or mute all the recent and incoming newbies until they show genuine engagement in another community first.

Onboarding is a good thing, but as a mentor this must be done in a sustainable way, so I encourage you to do more and perhaps consider contributing to ASEAN Hive in some way yourself. Your account is in constant power down and you haven't taken the time to build up any HIVE for yourself, also not a good model to follow for newbies.

Sorry for my rant, but I don't earn any extra income for all this added work that I now have. It would be awesome if this endless stream of newbies were truly engaged and trying to bring value to ASEAN Hive to benefit everyone as a whole.

Thanks so much for addressing me this concern @asean.hive I will make sure to inform them back again about this matter.Everyday I keep reminding them that every after post they should give 5 engagement and I think I will need to remind them again everyday to make it 10 genuine engagements that they should read the post first before giving a comment. Also I encourage them to power up which is also included in our discussion also the contributing delegation to Asean Hive community.I will make it up all of this and I hope that they will follow my everyday advice...I am very open for your recommendations for the community and as well as the newbie Hiver's to grow.

Another thing also that newbies limitted engagement is because of their limitted resource credits when they do not much have more Hive power...I am thinking of suggesting for them to lease or buy Hive to power up and I am still figuring out if it works for a newbie to lease Hive power.

Let's meet friend

Please newcomers take time time to read posts of other Hivers in-depth and take time to leave longform thoughtful comments that demonstrate to the author you took time to read. I recommend reading, voting, and engaging with 10 posts for every post you publish, especially so as newbies.

There is a nearly endless stream of newcomers to ASEAN Hive and almost nobody is demonstrating genuine engagement. ASEAN Hive is unique because it feels like a village full of genuine interaction, and right now we are at risk of losing this./

Also, please take time to read the ASEAN Hive rules, there are minimum engagement standards and word count requirements, thank you.
