Exotic faces

There is a time that arriving at a place too early is a good thing. A very good thing! The closed door with a strict timetable makes you walk around to kill the time and find more cool things that could have been missed otherwise.

Last fall I went to see how Abbey in Lubiąż is doing. Perfect timing during the biggest floods in years made it even more interesting. Passing by flooded forests and fields and water reaching the walls of the building made it even more memorable (the tour guide told us that only cellars were flooded, so all good).

But... for now it's the faces I saw. Lots of exotic faces in the middle of a small Polish town.

If you look closely, you may notice that these are not faces from this part of the world. Why would a person from Africa or a Native American stand in a park in the middle of nowhere in some Slavic country?
Well... back in the 18th century there was a fashion for exotic things. Since not many people had a chance to meet or see someone from across the globe - it was brought to them in the form of a sculpture or a painting.

Beautiful, massive statues in the middle of a well maintained park with old trees and a river nearby. It was a lovely walk indeed.

And all that in a beautiful, old park in front of this Abbey in Lubiąż.
But that place I will show another time.
Eventually :)

You can see a few of the columns on the right side.

Well I hope all the wine in the cellar is not spoiled by the flood. ; )
nice statue, if you can't see it in person, bring the statue to learn about them. but now it is through social media. : )

What exotic and intriguing faces, what wonderful photos!

Amazing exotic faces, you managed to capture these faces to the maximum of my friend 😍😊

I'm glad you took advantage of the time you had to get to know the place a little better and found these beautiful sculptures
I hope the flood didn't cause significant damage
Beautiful monochrome shots, dear friend @ewkaw
Have a beautiful day

Well, hallelujah for that discovery. These sculptures are very cool and you photographed them well.

Eventually :)

I hope you're not saving them to commemorate the founding of the Abbey. It will be in August I think.

For me I love going late so it wont be long I leave the place. But with your idea I'll try it out where by i explore the environment if i get there too early
