As simple as that

I was in Athens for a couple of days, the big city and capital of our small country, to short out some affairs and do some errands. It was from the kind of trips that you have many things to do in a small amount of time which leads to running around the city all day long and just crave for an early bedtime when it is all over. It was no different this time but I had in mind a challenge that has been expressed in the comments of this post and although I didn't have a camera or the time to do it properly, I spared a few minutes every now and then, to practice in street photography.

It is a kind that I loved to do in my early years as a photographer but I have now neglected. I was curious to see though, what kind of pictures I can take now, more or less at the same places that I used to wander a few decades ago but with so different equipment and a so different self :)

I turned the pictures into black and white, in order to make the comparison to my old pictures easier but neither the lack of colour nor the artificial grain can make the phone pictures even remotely similar to the old film shots that I shared a couple of weeks ago at the post I linked above.

Anyway I didn't gave it much thought and I kept taking random shots, as I going in and out of the metro or walking in different neighbourhoods of Athens. Now that I look at them edited and ready to be shared I do feel a bit like an imposter. Like I am imitating my old self, trying to take pictures similar to the ones he used to take.

On the other hand I wonder why I don't do that more often! I really had a good time allowing myself those small breaks in my tight schedule, just enough to take a look, raise my phone and take a shot.

As simple as that!
