Many, who are attracted by portrait photography, have difficulties to start with pro models.
Indeed, it is easier to experiment with friends and moreover, they are easier to get relaxed or to pretend they don't see you while you try to be a paparazzi :)
Here are a few visual instants from a photo-travel by the sea, that, I think, prove my point.
You probably know by now how much I love Black & White or sometimes referred as Monochromatic photography. I have always believed that while Color Photography shows the external part of our world, Black and White Photography shows the soul, the inner hidden side of everything. I totally agree with what you say, experimenting with friends is the first step to become confident in photography. To this day after several years I still meet up with friends to take pictures of them and it's a fun and enjoyable time. I loved the result of your photos, but the first one is perfect, those rays of light are beautiful.
