Once a Gamer, Always a Gamer
In general, I don't talk much about myself because it's not something that makes me feel comfortable, but I think that even if I had never written a slightly more personal post — and I have, although rarely! — anyone looking at my profile would understand in two seconds what one of my main passions is.
I'm talking, of course, about gaming. Actually, Gaming, with a capital "G" because I like it better that way.
I've been a gamer for decades now, and I've played for many, many, so many years, dedicating much of my free time to gaming: I've explored distant worlds, lived unforgettable adventures, witnessed touching stories, and so much more.
For me, video games have always been the perfect blend of a movie and a book, but with my choices and skills at the center of it all.
I've loved video games since I was a kid when I got my first console, a gray PlayStation 1 — perhaps it might surprise some, but I never had handheld consoles, like the classic Game Boy: crazy for a gamer, right? 😅
From there, I never stopped, and after the PlayStation 2, I switched to the competition, buying, in order, an Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Xbox Series S.
Yes, that's a lot of consoles with terribly similar names — apparently, whoever handles this side of marketing at Microsoft isn't very creative... — and most of them I bought used, reselling the previous model each time. This way, I often ended up getting a new console by spending just a few dozen euros... and sometimes not even that!
However, with the Xbox Series S, I stopped. A few months after buying it for 200 euros, I resold it for the same amount, suddenly finding myself, out of the blue, without a console.
After so many years, I found myself without a way to play. No more video games.
The reason? I needed every bit of my time, including my free time, to try to do something that, in the end, didn't work out.
It happens. At this point, it's 99% certain it went that way, and all I can do is move forward, looking for alternatives and building something different.
At this point, however, I've decided to get back to gaming because my gamer soul never really settled down, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss playing.
By quitting gaming, I let go of many friendships and a hobby that I've always loved over the years.
That's why, since I needed to build a desktop PC for work reasons, I though "why not go a bit bigger?": a slightly more powerful processor, more RAM, a graphics card, and a few RGB LEDs that these days you find everywhere, even when you don't want them.
My first gaming PC is almost ready.
After over three years of "abstinence," I'll finally be able to dedicate again some of my free time to what has always been my favorite hobby.
And amidst all this, they've started revealing information about Battlefield 6.
It seems it was truly meant to be.

Giocatore Una Volta, Giocatore per Sempre
In genere non parlo molto di me, perchè non è una cosa che mi mette a mio agio, ma penso che anche se non avessi mai fatto nessun post di taglio un po' più personale - e qualcuno, anche se raro, ogni tanto l'ho scritto! - chiunque guardando il mio profilo capirebbe in due secondi qual è una delle mie passioni principali.
Parlo, ovviamente, del gaming. Anzi, Gaming, con la "G" maiuscola perchè mi piace di più.
Sono un videogiocatore da decenni ormai e ho giocato per tanti, tanti, tantissimi anni, dedicando al gaming molto del mio tempo libero: ho esplorato mondi lontani, vissuto avventure indimenticabili, assistito a storie toccanti e molto, molto di più.
I videogiochi per me sono sempre stati la perfetta sintesi tra un film ed un libro, ma con al centro come protagonista le mie scelte ed abilità.
Ho amato i videogiochi sin da piccolo, quando ho avuto la mia prima consolle, una Playstation 1 grigia - forse a qualcuno sorprenderà, ma non ho mai avuto consolle portatili, come il classico Game Boy: assurdo per un gamer, no? 😅
Da lì poi non mi sono più fermato e, dopo la Playstation 2, sono passato alla concorrenza, acquistando nell'ordine Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One X e Xbox Series S.
Sì, sono un sacco di consolle dai nomi terribilmente simili - chi gestisce questo lato del marketing in Microsoft a quanto pare non è dotato di molta fantasia... - e la maggior parte le ho acquistate usate, rivendendo ogni volta il modello precedente. In questo modo spesso mi sono trovato a possedere una nuova consolle sborsando giusto qualche decina di euro... e alle volte nemmeno quelli!
Cono la Xbox Serie S mi sono però fermato e, dopo pochi mesi da che l'avevo acquistata a 200 euro, l'ho rivenduta, per la stessa cifra, ritrovandomi così, all'improvviso, senza una consolle.
Dopo così tanti anni mi sono ritrovato senza un modo per giocare. Niente più videogiochi.
La ragione? Avevo bisogno di ogni briciola del mio tempo, incluso quello libero, per tentare di fare qualcosa che, alla fine, non mi è riuscito.
Capita, ormai al 99% è andata così e tutto quello che si può fare è andare avanti, cercando alternative e costruendo qualcosa di diverso.
A questo punto, però, ho deciso di tornare anche a giocare, perchè il mio animo da gamer non si è mai acquietato e mentirei se dicessi che giocare non mi è mancato.
Smettendo di giocare ho lasciato andare tante amicizie ed un hobby che negli anni ho sempre amato.
Per questo, dato che per motivi lavorativi avevo interesse ad assemblarmi un pc fisso, ho pensato, già che c'ero, di fare le cose un po' più in grande: un processore un po' più potente, più RAM, una scheda video ed un po' di led RGB che oggi giorno li trovi ovunque anche quando non li vuoi.
Il mio primo pc da gaming è quasi pronto.
Dopo oltre 3 anni di "astinenza" potrò di nuovo tornare a dedicare del tempo a quello che, da sempre, è il mio hobby preferito.
E in tutto ciò hanno cominciato a rivelare informazioni su Battlefield 6.
Si vede che era proprio destino.
