The fragility of life - gone too soon

in GEMS3 days ago

Sometimes, we forget how delicate life truly is. We feel invincible, and perhaps that's okay, it helps us live without constant fear. But then, something unimaginable happens, and suddenly, we understand the truth, life is fleeting. It can be breathtakingly beautiful, yet in an instant, everything can change.

A few days ago, my world shifted in a way I never thought possible. I haven’t been very active lately because I’ve been grappling with an immense shock.

Three lives were lost. Just like that, in a single moment. My hometown is small, the kind of place where everyone knows everyone. We share the same school, the same streets, the same lives.

That morning began like any other. I woke up, made my coffee, and started scrolling through the news and social media. But then something stopped me. A plane crash, just a few kilometers from my home. All I knew at first was that three people had died.

My phone buzzed. Friends were calling to ask if I had heard the news. I said yes but admitted I didn’t know who was on the plane. That’s when they told me, two young men from my school and a girl I had seen around. My heart sank. I couldn’t believe it. I knew those boys, they were kind, full of life, with futures ahead of them.

It happened on a sunny Sunday morning, a day meant to be filled with joy. The young girl had received a special gift, a chance to fly in a small sports plane to see the beauty of our hometown from above. She boarded with two others, including the experienced pilot.

For about half an hour, they soared through the sky, until everything went wrong. Moments later, tragedy struck.

That Sunday, the third in November, became one of the darkest days in our region's history.

The pilot, just a year older than me, had years of experience. He knew the skies, and yet, no emergency procedures were initiated. No distress calls were made. No one knows what truly happened, and perhaps we never will. The official investigation may take years, but for those of us left behind, the pain is immediate and unrelenting.

What was supposed to be a magical day ended in devastation. Families and friends will never again see the smiles of these three young people. Their voices, their laughter, all gone. Our community is left reeling, wrapped in sorrow that feels almost unbearable.

This year has been especially hard. We’ve lost so many young people, each memory now etched into our hearts forever. The weight of these tragedies has left our community in a shadow of grief. For some, life will never feel whole again.

I look around and see the sadness on everyone’s faces. It’s a reminder of how quickly everything can change, how fragile life really is.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what this means. I realize, now more than ever, how important it is to tell the people around you that you love them. Don’t wait. Hug them tighter. Say the words you’ve been holding back. You never know when it might be your last chance.

Grief never fully goes away. It becomes a part of you. Some days it’s quieter, other days it overwhelms. But you can carry it. Honor those you’ve lost by remembering the joy they brought to your life. Find strength in the love you still have for them. And no matter how hard it feels, keep going.

Talk to someone. Write your feelings down. Let yourself cry when you need to. But also let yourself smile again. The people we lose would want us to keep living, to find beauty in life even amidst the pain.

Life is fragile. We think we’re invincible until something happens to remind us how quickly it can all change. A plane crash took three young lives in my hometown, leaving behind a community in mourning. The tragedy is a painful reminder to cherish every moment, to love fully, and to live with intention.

Grief is hard, but it’s also a testament to the love we have for those we’ve lost. We must carry that love with us, honoring their memory while finding the strength to keep going. Life is unpredictable and precious,so live it well.

As I look at the rainbow stretching across the sky, I’m reminded of hope, even in the darkest times. Rest in peace, dear souls. Over the rainbow, may you find the peace and light that was taken from you too soon.

I often feel like life stretches endlessly in front of me, but your story is such a powerful reminder of how unpredictable and fragile it really is. It’s heartbreaking to think about how quickly everything can change, and it makes me want to cherish my friends and family even more.

sometimes is just hard to believe how fast can life be taken away. We need to appreciate life and people around us. Thanks for stopping by ❤️

This is so sad, I pray they find peace.

This week has been stopped for me s well, it's weird how some days, weeks even months feel like we're super heroes, getting through everything and accidents like this stop us for a while.

Had near head on collision on monday and I'm still not moving anywhere for whole week.

I'm sorry for your loss

Do you have any snow around ? To make a snowman or at least an angel in the snow
