Hello, GEM today I wanted to talk to you about another one of my great passions, music. And I think for me it couldn't be any other way, since I live in a musical city, Santiago de Cuba. Where many of the great musicians have come from and where many of the genres that have made Cuban music famous have been created.
In particular, traditional troubadour music and son have been the genres that have distinguished the city by excellence. For generations, musicians have passed down songs played and learned by ear. Thus, music has become part of the idiosyncrasy of the people of Santiago. Perhaps that is why it is not difficult to see a troubadour or percussionist giving life to the morning on its main streets, and at the same time making a living with what they are passionate about.
But even though you can find street musicians in almost any part of the city center, Céspedes Park has something special. Always vibrating under the influence of musicians who have made this space their home for years, playing for passersby and approaching foreign visitors, always making sure that the music in one way or another feels alive.
Son, guaracha, troubadour music, all conspiring to ensure that tradition does not die and that the people, without realizing it, continue with that musical character that has created and continues to create great musicians and passionate music lovers like myself.
